Chyio was only 8 months old when he came to us. He had already spent 4 months in pain, almost no hair left, crusts and infection all over his body, and a smell that showed just how much he was suffering. We found he had generalized juvenile demodecosis, a skin problem that happens when the natural mites on a puppy’s skin multiply too much. Because his skin was so damaged, he also developed a secondary bacterial infection (pyoderma) that made things worse.With the right treatment and time, Chyio started to heal. His coat grew back, the infection cleared, and his playful puppy energy returned. 🐾 If you notice your dog losing hair, scratching, or having sores that don’t improve, don’t wait. Skin problems can look small at first, but they can quickly become serious. With proper care, most dogs, like Chyio, can make a full recovery.

What a recovery story for Frankie 🥰Dachshunds are especially at risk of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) because of their long backs and short legs. A disc herniation can happen suddenly, causing pain or even complete paralysis. Frankie faced exactly that, needing emergency spinal surgery to relieve the pressure on her spinal cord. Her recovery has been filled with hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and patience but she started to walk again for the first time and is improving every day! Stories like hers show that with the right care, IVDD doesn’t have to mean the end of mobility.

Cats have a natural instinct to mask pain, a trait that stems from their wild ancestors, where showing weakness made them vulnerable to predators. Because of this, changes in behaviour can be the first indicator that something isn’t right.

Our cats may not be able to tell us with words, but here is a handy checklist of physical symptoms that can alert us to their pain.
