Cromlet - 22/02/26
The trusty VAWZ Rural Animal Welfare Clinic successfully navigated the muddy roads to Cromlet where we had a busy day of sterilisations!
Totals were as follows:
Total neuters: 22
Total spays: 26

Thank you to our tireless team for their hard work, and to each and every owner for bringing their pets to be sterilised. These procedures help to prevent disease, control stray populations, and contribute hugely to the health and welfare of so many animals!

Today is World Spay Day! This annual event aims to raise awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering pets to help prevent disease, reduce stray populations and improve animal health and welfare.

As a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO #28/16), VAWZ conducts free spay and neuter campaigns around Zimbabwe in communities where these services are not otherwise available. This important work relies almost entirely on public donations, and every dollar makes a difference.

So, be part of the solution! Get your pets spayed/neutered, and support your local welfare organisations this World Spay Day, giving countless animals a chance at a happier, healthier life!

Building on our efforts from last year, our team recently assisted Gweru and Kwekwe SPCAs with a number of sterilisations. It was a busy few days, with the totals as follows:
Total animals sterilised: 79 (44 dogs, 35 cats)
Total spays: 28 dogs, 25 cats
Total neuters: 16 dogs, 10 cats

Sincere thanks to the Alice Noakes Memorial Charitable Trust for making this important collaborative work possible.
We are also grateful to Helen and Graham and the SPCA staff for their assistance, as well as to Bryan for providing accommodation and meals for the VAWZ team.
Last but by no means least, a huge thank you to the vets, Dr. Francis and Dr. Moses, and to Vailet for all their hard work.

An excellent way to kick off 2026!
