Linden farm awarded in 4 categories at the just ended Copperbelt agricultural show (CAMINEX)
1-Best commercial farmer
2-Overall Champion (Sheep)
3-Overall Champion (Dairy)
4-Best Overall Exhibit Fisheries and Livestock. Receiving these awards is a great honor, but today my heart remembers someone very special — my late father.
He may no longer be here physically, but his love, sacrifices, guidance, and prayers continue to live within me every single day. He taught me the value of hard work, humility, perseverance, and believing in myself even during difficult times.
There were moments when giving up seemed easier, but the lessons he instilled in me kept me moving forward. I only wish he were here to witness this moment, because so much of who I am and everything I have achieved is because of him.
A big congratulations to our partner’s Hapitec Investments Limited for also scooping best pig farmers and meat processors

Not all days are rosy.
This cow’s calf was mal-presentatd, meaning the calf is in an abnormal position during calving, making delivery difficult.
Front legs appeared but the head was turned backwards.
Calf died but we saved the mother!!
We had high expectations from this calf after artificially inseminating the cow (mother)

AK has sired a number of piglets at our farm and he is a cross between a large white and pietrain best known as PIC410.
A good breeding boar (male pig) should have a combination of physical strength, reproductive ability, and good genetics. Here are the key qualities to look for:

1. Strong body condition
A boar should be:
* Well-muscled but not too fat
* Strong legs and feet (very important for mating)
* Free from lameness or deformities

If the legs are weak, the boar will struggle to mount sows and fertility drops.

2. Good libido (s*x drive)
* Active and eager to mate
* Responds quickly when a sow is on heat
* Not lazy or disinterested

Low libido means poor breeding performance even if the boar looks healthy.

God knows how much I love this girl but she has a condition which is making her lose weight regardless of how much we feed her. We suspect she has swallowed a plastic or sack.
When a cow swallows plastic bag or sack material, it can cause a serious condition often called hardware disease or more broadly rumen impaction. Unlike food, plastic cannot be digested, so it stays inside the cow—usually in the rumen (the first stomach).
Here’s what typically happens:

1. Accumulation in the rumen
Plastic builds up over time because it doesn’t break down. The rumen fills with indigestible material, reducing space for feed.

2. Poor digestion
Because the rumen is partly blocked:
* Feed is not properly fermented
* Nutrient absorption drops
* The cow gradually loses weight

3. Reduced appetite and milk production
* The cow may eat less or stop eating
* Milk yield drops significantly in dairy cows

If untreated, the cow becomes weak, dehydrated, and may die in the long run

He thought he was clever by hitting me to the ground!! At least I’m happy I got my revenge 😄 by injecting him for his swollen hoof

Meet my namesake (Nebart) 94kgs.
Dorper sheep are a very popular meat sheep breed, especially suited for harsh and semi-arid environments like many parts of Zambia.

🔍 Origin

* Developed in South Africa
Key Characteristics

Deworming cattle with Rock view students studying animal science.
Deworming has clear practical benefits for productivity, health, and profit. Here’s what you gain:
🐄 Better Growth and Weight Gain

Worms steal nutrients from the animal. When you deworm:
* Feed is used efficiently
* Animals gain weight faster
* Calves grow stronger

Inserting afterbirth pills generally helps the uterus contract after birth. In cattle, this is important because it helps expel any remaining placenta, reduces bleeding, and lowers the risk of infections. It’s basically aiding the cow’s natural recovery process after giving birth.
