WHY SHOULDN'T YOU SHAVE YOUR HUSKY'S COAT DOWN?
✔️Huskies are a double coated dog breed. Double-coated dogs are those that have two layers of fur;A harsh topcoat and a soft undercoat. These two coats grow independently of one another and to different lengths. The soft undercoat is shorter and grows much faster than the topcoat.
✔️Shaving a husky's coat damages their overall coat. I think PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMERS can agree on this one too. Certain dog breeds can be shaved with no harm whatsoever to their coat meanwhile other dog breed's coats when shaved actually does more harm than good. Huskies have a double coat which helps provide insulation to keep them warm in winter and cool in summer, shaving it off can cause more harm than good.
✔️The Siberian Husky was bred to adapt to all environments. The Husky relies on their double coated coat to protect them no matter the living situation their owner provides. Therefore, shaving your Husky should NEVER be considered unless advised by a veterinarian due to a medical emergency or if the dog is too matted (a situation where a dog's fur has densely tangled clumps in a pet's coat) . To prevent matting you may brush out your husky's coat from time to time.
✔️By shaving a husky's coat, you're removing its fur and hair follicles, too—an action that will permanently damage its coat and significantly affect its ability to regrow it. Once a shaved coat regrows, it might become patchy, thin, and with a different texture.
✔️Huskies and other double-coated dogs shouldn't be shaved unless absolutely necessary. Doing so won't keep them cooler, and in fact makes it harder for their bodies to regulate temperature. It exposes the dogs to sunburn.🔥🌞
