Happy Valentine's Day to all animal lovers! 💙🧡💙🧡💙🧡
Check the progress of our building projects! Its really exciting to see our ideas come to life!
Have a look at our 2 projects to improve the lives of the cats and dogs in our care!
We make sure all our animals get physical and mental stimulation, lots of love and affection, and opportunities to express natural behaviours.
The shelter is so full that we decided to make 2 extra emergency enclosures with all the odds & sods bits of material we have lying around.
They are not even finished and already they are full. In the vid of the brown dog, you can hear the banging to finish the enclosure next door!
The brown dog - owner neglect called in by neighbours; mama w puppies has a spinal injury. Thanks to The AARC for donating the iron sheets.
If you have any spare building materials that you could donate, please let us know. At least these 8 dogs are safe now.
Nothing to see here. Just a dog going for a walk.
Except its his first walk after taking out the worst ingrown claw that I've seen, and he can now use all four legs again freely!
He's gaining weight and the mange is going. He's blind in one eye, but that hasn't stopped him from transforming from a shivering nervous dog into this happy lad.
EDIT: We lost this little pup just now. He had too many battles to fight at once.
As if parvo & tick bite fever aren't enough, someone cut off his tail. We're currently fighting to save him.
EDIT: Facebook is limiting sharing of this post for "illegal selling of animals" and yet allows posts of horrific animal abuse every day. Please help us by sharing this far and wise and help find our pups their forever homes. The shelter is full, the bank account is empty and these little darlings (and a whole pile of more puppies) deserve their chance at a great life. We can't rescue any more until we make some space and we get calls every day about animals in need.
ORIGINAL: These gorgeous pups are almost 4 months old and ready for loving forever homes. They are already vaccinated and spayed/ neutered and super friendly.
Please open your heart and home to one of our little cuties. We can't help more dogs unless we find homes for some of our existing shelter dogs and we know there are so many more that need our help.

Puppy & Kitten Toys!
Gigantic thanks to Kate Bridger and Elsamari Oman and to their friends and family for the suitcase full of goodies they brought us yesterday. Soooo many useful things - collars and leads, dewormers, blankets, treats and of course loads and loads of toys. The puppies got stuck in straight away and had a blast! Why are there no videos of cats and kittens playing? Coz it was waaay too hot for them and they told us to go away and come back when it was cool enough to lift a paw!
We got back late last night from our epic road trip. Just under 1,100km in 2 days!
First stop was Matobo Vet Clinic in Mazabuka. We took Tracy, the snared dog whose amputation needs corrective surgery, and Rocky - an owned dog whose owner brought him to us for help. His broken leg needs pinned and re-plastered. We also took our little fainting kitten. Three times we thought this kitten was a goner but we managed to bring him back but we want to know what's going on.
We spent the night with Sanet Wilson just outside Kafue, which was a huge blessing, then pushed up to Lusaka with Paula for a CT scan and full blood work at UNZA Vet Clinic. On the way out, we picked up Snoopy, who had been at Loving Hand Vet Clinic with 2 broken front legs - one had to be amputated.
Huge thanks to Jessie at The AARC for looking after Snoopy for us and to all the amazing vets helping us.
We're waiting tor full results for Paula but we hope we can help her.
Please can you help us with the vet bills coming up. We already have an outstanding bill for 5,000kw with our local vet and we know more bills are coming soon. We spent 4,000kw on fuel and we also need another 16,000kw to finish the security around our borehole and pipes to bring water to the shelter. We desperately need to finish this as we currently have to fetch water from a friend's borehole as the local water company cut us off as they still expect us to pay for water leaked when the elephants broke the supply pipe.
Someone I don't really know recently asked me if I am married as he needs a woman to marry (kind of like shopping for a new kettle - you just need something new to put in the kitchen). I replied I am only interested in marrying a millionaire veterinary surgeon, so the conversation was fairly short. So while I work on Plan A, please support us if you can to help us take care of the animals.

Thank you always so
We'd like to give huge thanks to Livestock Services for the amazing donation of 20 trays of 5 in 1 vaccine. All the shelter dogs have had boosters and we are working our way around the local community and nearby villages
