This lovable, sweet natured and calm calico with the black smudge on her nose is a delightful addition to any cat family.
She is well socialised and accustomed to a large cat family of varying ages. This four and a half year old female has a huge, soft heart and an equally soft meow.
Although she is confident, she is not very assertive and would need cat companions who would not bully her. For an older cat, she would make a perfect companion.

ADOPT MR GRAY

This handsome, fluffy black cat is 11 years old and full of love. He’s a little bit chonky (ok, a lot adorable), and he’s hoping to find a home that will help him slim down just a bit while giving him all the cuddles he deserves.

Mr. Gray is affectionate, gentle, and loves nothing more than being close to his favorite humans.

He’s ready to spend his golden years in a cozy home filled with love, snacks (in moderation), and plenty of nap spots.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s just as cute as he is kind, Mr. Gray is waiting for you.

Adopt Mr. Gray today, because every senior cat deserves a second chance. 🐾💕

“ON THE WAY TO THE MARKET… I MET”

Heading out to buy shelter supplies, I planned to stop at the car licensing office to pick up my annual car licence, but I got hopelessly lost in a residential area. I pulled over to the side of the road to use my maps app when I heard plaintive, urgent meowing.

On investigating through the shrubbery, I discovered a ginger and white female, thin, with scabs around her neck and two engorged teats, despite her other teats appearing normal. From behind me appeared a tortoiseshell cat, also distressed, though she looked to be in better condition.

After arranging carriers and meeting some teenagers who admitted to feeding the cats because the owners were not, they agreed that the cats would be better off if I took them.

They explained there was a third cat they were feeding, and that a neighbour was fostering four kittens, the surviving kittens from the three females.

I will be going back to collect the third cat, and I have offered to deworm and vaccinate the kittens. This area would greatly benefit from a TNR (trap, neuter, return) initiative, which would improve the living conditions and health of the homeless and free-roaming cats. We’ll keep our followers posted.

Was it fate that I got lost and came across three adult cats in need of rescue and four kittens in need of preventative medical care?

What touched my heart most was the kindness and love the three children showed towards these homeless cats. They did the best they could for them, even when they didn’t have to.

ADOPT SWEET TRISTIN

Can you believe that we’ve not had a single application for this sweet girl?!

Tristin had a very hard start in life. Living on scraps of food thrown out the back door, she managed to survive and feed her kittens. When we were notified of her circumstances, we approached her owner, who willingly surrendered her and her only two surviving kittens.

Her beautiful tabby offspring were both adopted by the same family. Tristin has never known a loving home, and more than anything, we want this for her, this sweet, loving, interactive, and no-fuss little girl who gets on so well with cats of varying ages.

Please help us find Tristin her forever, loving home. This young, 1 year old female has already faced so much hardship and truly deserves to be spoilt, pampered, and loved.

For more information, and to start the adoption process please contact Jane at [email protected]

An approved application and home check are part of the adoption process. Adoption fees of R1250. This fee helps cover their vet care expenses, including first vaccinations and booster vaccinations, rabies shots, deflea and deworming treatments, FIV and FeLV tests, and sterilization.

FAIR FARAH

Farah, with her sibling Fee-Bee and mother Frangelica, were dumped at our one feeding station during the Festive Season in 2024.

Fee-Bee had to be euthanized due to a severely crushed pelvis, and mom Frangelica found her forever loving home early this year.

Almost a year in shelter and this sweet, lovable and a little shy female of 14 months old needs to find her own family who will love, adore and value her.

She tends to avoid visitors, especially young children, but gets on very well with the 10 cats of varying ages who share a cabana with her at the shelter.

She is playful, busy, and loves spending time lying in the hammock. This tame but cautious little girl must have had a very rough life with her sister and mom.

She needs a loving home where she gets attention and love without small children, and with a cat friend or two. We feel once she trusts the hand that feed and strokes her she will blossom into an amazing companion.

If you feel you can give Farah the home she has never had but needs please contact Jane at [email protected]

An approved application and home check are a part of the adoption process. The adoption fee is R1250. This fee covers their vet care expenses, including initial and booster vaccinations, rabies shots, deflea and deworming treatments, FIV and FeLV tests, microchip, and sterilization.

BECOME A KITTY ANGEL

To be honest we can’t do as much as we do without YOU!

We rely on public support to help us through each month with whatever comes our way. Whether it’s preparing for kitten season by making sure we can TNR as many cats as we can, or making sure all our cats are vaccinated, fed, and healthy, or simply keeping our lights on, we need help in doing so.

You can become a kitty angel today by becoming a monthly donor. From as little as R90 a month you can help us cover many of our monthly running costs, without breaking the bank.

Please consider setting up a recurring eft to help support us in caring for our cats.

SANTA CAUSE FOR PAWS

It may be 2 weeks until Christmas, but that also means that Christmas isn't too far away, and 12 of our cats are still looking for sponsors as part of the Santa Cause for Paws Christmas Drive!

Please head over to the album on the SCFP page, comment "sponsor" on the cat you'd like to sponsor, and the SCFP team will respond with banking details.

The sponsorship will help buy gifts and much needed items from our wishlist to help benefit all the cats in our care.

Hello I'm from Friends of Ferals,

Please sponsor me for R250.
Simply comment sponsor and SCFP will send details. They will shop and deliver items to the charity with a card and your name on it.
Please share.
For any information regarding adopting me, contact the charity directly. If I find a home before my gift arrives, I will gladly offer my gift to a new intake. If I am an outreach animal, your donation will help an animal similar to me. Please note each charity sends a wishlist and the volunteers shop and pack as best as possible to that wishlist, so charities get what they want. Gifts can include food, treats, warm items, toys, useful items etc. Often charities opt for bulk options as this allows your generous donation to go further, instead of many small packs of food, a large bag will be purchased for the animals to share - it makes the funds go so much further. We hope you can understand the need to do this

GLOBAL CAT DAY - 16 OCTOBER

Originally named Feral Cat Day, today we honor our community cats worldwide. These feral or stray felines deserve a life free, where they are protected, and where they can thrive outdoors. We believe that it shouldn’t be charities that take on this responsibility to care for these feral colonies with food and TNR programmes, but businesses and housing estates should too.

If you ever spot a cat with an eartip (the tip of one ear is surgically removed or ‘notched’), this means they have been spayed or neutered and most likely belong to a managed cat community. These unsung feline heroes play a crucial role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem by keeping rodents and snakes at bay.

Together, we can make a real difference!
