Nothing makes you appreciate the water bite session like a heat wave! Thank you to our friends at Otterlake German Restaurant for the kind use of your dam. The dogs and students had a great time sharpening their skills while keeping cool.

Our team had the honour of doing a demo with our dogs at the EduXplore Expo at the Heartfelt Arena on Saturday 17 October. The expo focuses on helping its young audience to consider future career choices, and we were proud to bring dog handling as a career to the table.

If you have been dreaming or even wondering about entering a career as a dog handler, contact our team on [email protected] today for more information!

Because sometimes you'll have to work where there's water.
Because sometimes you'll have to work when it's dark.
Because sometimes you'll work with a really big dog.

Because you can't be too prepared for what's going to happen in real life, we prepare you for real life. Congratulations to the DH4 component of Group 3 of 2026, who finished on Friday. Our best future wishes accompany you. Trust your training!

Stocktake and kennel maintenance? Must be DH3!

This week marked the halfway mark for Group 3 of 2026, and once the rain stopped, the activities were in full swing.

It's all downhill from here - to the students, keep your focus and stay the course. We are proud of you.

Thank you for so kindly hosting us, Greenside Animal Hospital 🐾

Greenside Animal Clinic was recently engulfed by curiosity and excitement — and, of course, plenty of Google searches for Bloodhounds and K9 Project Watchdog! 🐶

We had the privilege of hosting two Bloodhounds and a Malinois from Genesis K9 Group, situated just outside Pretoria. Genesis is the training provider for the dogs involved in the SANParks Honorary Rangers’ K9 Project Watchdog initiative.

These remarkable dogs are specially trained to help fight poaching across South Africa’s national parks, protecting our precious wildlife and natural heritage.

K9 Project Watchdog was the official charity supported by Electra Mining Africa Expo, and we at Greenside Animal Clinic feel privileged to have played our small part by providing boarding space for Raven, Astra and Raptor at our facility.

We’re incredibly proud to support the people and dogs working tirelessly to protect South Africa’s wildlife. 💚🐾

K9 Iris does it again!

Now working operationally with another security company, Iris recently contributed to a significant narcotics bust that resulted in the recovery of:

🔹 599 Mandrax tablets
🔹 62 pieces of rock co***ne
🔹 213 capsules of he**in
🔹 95 live rounds of am******on
🔹 2 ziplock packets of rock powder
🔹 60 packets of dagga
🔹 R8,390 in cash

Estimated value of drugs recovered: R53,000.

Iris was trained entirely by Genesis K9 Group and continues to return to us every six months with her handler for recertification, ensuring that her detection certification remains current and her working standard stays where it needs to be.

We’re always proud to see a Genesis-trained dog out there doing the job she was trained to do, and Iris continues to prove just how capable she is.

Well done, Iris. That nose remains a champion.🐕‍🦺
