Father’s Day does not always need to be spent in a crowded restaurant 👇
Sometimes the best gift is simply spending the day together, and Tulbagh gives you plenty of ways to do just that.

If your dad enjoys the outdoors, a round of golf at the nearby Ceres Golf Club is a great way to start the day before lunch or a wine tasting. For dads who prefer something a little more adventurous, book a guided hike through the mountains with local guide Juri from Track & Trail, or spend the day exploring Tulbagh’s mountain biking routes together.

And if his ideal Father’s Day looks a little more relaxed, Tulbagh’s boutique wine farms, local tasting rooms and places like The Gin Yard make it easy to turn a tasting into an afternoon. Think mountain views, small-batch wines, craft gin and nowhere to rush off to afterwards.

That’s the nice thing about Father’s Day in Tulbagh. It can be as laid-back or as active as your dad would like it to be.

Can your kids go the whole weekend without a screen? 📵
School holidays sometimes mean more time staring at a screen, but in Tulbagh, there are plenty of ways to keep curious minds busy and adventurous feet moving.

🦒 Spot giraffes, elephants or lions on safari at Aquila Private Game Reserve and Inverdoorn
Seeing wildlife up close never gets old. Giraffes, zebras, elephants and more, this is an experience kids will keep talking about long after their holiday ends.

🚜 Ride through the valley with Oudekloof Wine Estate Tractor Rides
Forget backseat boredom. Climb aboard and explore the valley while learning more about the land, the mountains and the history of the area.

🎨 Get creative at Coil & Pinch
Swap screen time for clay time. Coil & Pinch offers hands-on pottery experiences where kids can learn traditional ceramic techniques. It's a chance to step away from screens, make something with their hands and take home a memory that's a little more meaningful than a photo.

The best part? By the end of the weekend, they'll have collected plenty of memories without ever asking for the WiFi password.

📌 Save this for the next school holidays, then explore more family-friendly experiences on our website.

Planning a day on the Tulbagh Wine Route? Here’s what you need to know before you go 🍷

The Tulbagh Wine Route is one of the easiest ways to experience our valley, but if it’s your first visit, it helps to know how to plan your day.

Unlike larger wine regions, Tulbagh offers a smaller, more personal tasting experience. You don’t need to rush from farm to farm to feel like you’ve made the most of it. In fact, 2-3 stops is usually enough for a relaxed day.

The best place to start is by deciding what kind of experience you’re looking for 👇

🥂 If you love Cap Classique Krone is a must. Their CCs helped shape South Africa’s modern Cap Classique scene, making it a strong stop if bubbles are your thing.

🍷 If you’re after award-winning reds and a more modern cellar experience Saronsberg Cellar is a great choice. Think bold wines, curated art spaces and mountain views that make you want to stay longer than planned.

🌿 If you want something smaller and more personal Lemberg Wine Estate offers a more hands-on tasting experience, where the focus stays on the wine and the story behind it.

🍽 If you want to turn it into a full afternoon
Choose farms like Manley Wine Estate that offer food, outdoor seating and space to settle in between tastings instead of rushing through your route.

🚜 And, if it's something unique that you're after, Oudekloof Wine Estate offers a tractor ride wine tasting experience.

A good wine-route day usually looks something like this:
Start with breakfast in town, head to your first tasting by late morning, enjoy a slow lunch or platter somewhere along the way, and leave space for one final stop in the afternoon.

The goal isn’t to tick off every farm. It’s to choose a few well, take your time, and enjoy the valley properly.

⚠️ A few things to remember
• Some farms are worth booking ahead
• Leave space in your day for the unexpected

📌 Save this for your next Tulbagh wine weekend.

When did adults decide they were too old to play? 🎨👇

Somewhere between work, responsibilities and busy schedules, many of us stopped making time for activities we simply enjoy.

That's part of what makes Coil & Pinch so refreshing.
This hands-on pottery studio gives visitors the chance to put their phones down, get their hands dirty and create something from scratch. There are no emails to answer, no notifications to check and no pressure to get it perfect.

Using traditional pottery techniques, you'll learn how a simple piece of clay can be shaped into something uniquely your own. Along the way, you'll discover that creativity isn't reserved for artists, it's something we all carry with us.

Nobody visits Tulbagh for a salad in winter 😉 🍔👇
But they do visit for burgers like these.
If you’re looking for some of the best burgers in Tulbagh, these are the spots worth adding to your winter food list.

🍔 Kole & Deeg
Their Wagyu Burger is stacked high with a rich Wagyu patty topped with bacon jam, cheddar, lettuce and tomato, all served in their traditional-style roosterkoek. Smoky, messy and best unshared.

🥖 Chef&Co.
Their Gatsby is a proper Cape classic done the Chef & Co. way. Grilled curry chicken, bacon, fries, cheese sauce, mayonnaise, cheddar, dill cucumbers, grilled onions and onion rings, all packed into a half French loaf.

🥓 Readers Restaurant
Anything here comes with charm, and their BLT Cheese Burger is no exception. Hearty from the first bite. Just a classic burger that satisfies exactly what you want it to.

🍺 Bush Pub Tulbagh & Herholdt's Pub & Grub
Sometimes all you want is a classic pub-style burger and a cold drink. Bush Pub and Herholdt's Pub keeps it simple: generous portions, good company and a burger that goes perfectly with a cold beer.

🍷 The Taste at Manley | Manley Wine Estate
This is your true gourmet option: brioche bun, brie cheese and red wine caramelised onions that work especially well alongside a glass of their Pinotage. This is a burger you’d face wind and rain to try.

🔥 Boord Restaurant, Farmstall & Accommodation
Their Signature Burger doesn’t hold back with a beef patty topped with calamari, lettuce, onion, tomato, bacon and cheese stacked into one burger that sounds excessive until you try it.
