Why visit a wine farm when you can stay on one? πŸ·πŸ‘πŸ‘‡

Staying on a wine farm gives you access to a whole new experience. Wake up among the vineyards, spend your morning on the estate and head to a tasting without having to get back in the car.

At De Kleine Wijn KoΓΆp,Manley Wine Estate, and Rijk’s Wine Estate and Guesthouse, you can wake up surrounded by vineyards and country views, discover the wines produced on the estate and make the farm part of your stay.

Take your time over a tasting, wander around the estate afterwards and head back to your accommodation when you're ready. The next morning, you're already in the Winelands, with another full day in Tulbagh ahead of you.

It's an easy way to turn a wine farm visit into a weekend away and a very good reason to stay another night.

Your next Tulbagh trip could start your wine collectionπŸ·πŸ‘‡
It can start with the wines you discover on a weekend in Tulbagh.

Building a quality wine collection at home isn't about saving expensive bottles for special occasions. It's about having wines you enjoy ready for a Friday dinner with your friends around, or even a gift you forgot you needed.

A trip on the Tulbagh Wine Route is a great place to start. Visit Rijk’s Wine Estate and Guesthouse, Blue Crane Vineyards and Tulbagh Winery to taste before you buy, speak to the people behind the wines and take home bottles that have a story attached to them.

And your collection doesn't have to stop growing when your weekend does. Taste Of Tulbagh has an online store which brings wines from different producers across the valley together, making it easy to reorder favourites and mix bottles from different estates in one order.

Start with six bottles. Open some, save some, discover what you enjoy and build your collection from there.

πŸ“Œ Save this for your next trip along the Tulbagh Wine Route and leave a little extra room in the boot.

How did one wine become part of Theuniskraal's story? πŸ·πŸ‘‡

Theuniskraal Wines has centuries of history behind it, but one chapter helped establish the estate's name in South African wine.

The story of the farm stretches back to 1699, when a young settler named Theunis was granted land north of Tulbagh. Generations later, in 1927, Helena Debora Jordaan bought Theuniskraal for her sons, Andries and Harry, beginning the Jordaan family's chapter on the farm.

Andries had ambitions for the wines he could produce here, and Cape Riesling became an important part of that story. Theuniskraal released its first Cape Riesling in 1948, at a time when the variety was still relatively unusual in South Africa. Just two years later, the wine won gold at the Commonwealth Wine Show in London.

Nearly a century after the Jordaan family arrived, the next generations continue to farm the vineyards and make wine at Theuniskraal.

Tulbagh is turning yellow πŸŒΌπŸ‘‡

This time of year brings one of the valley's most photogenic seasonal sights: fields of bright yellow canola appearing across the countryside.

Take a drive through our valley and you'll spot stretches of yellow against green farmland, mountain views and winter skies. It's a scene that only lasts for a limited part of the year, making August a beautiful time to plan a country drive, bring your camera and see another side of Tulbagh.

🌼 A little reminder when visiting: These are working farms and private agricultural fields, so please admire and photograph the canola from public roads and appropriate stopping points rather than entering the fields.

πŸ“Œ Save this for your August road trip and visit our website to find more things to see and do while you're in Tulbagh
