Shalom Equine Horsemanship Ons visie & passie is om kennis, perde & perdry bymekaar te bring. Dis hier waar leer & vreugde bym

Perde en Plaas hier op die stukkie aarde van Welgevonden Stoffberg (S 25˚28’04.7” E 029˚51’56.6”). ’n Week waarin ek my kennis en ervaring deur my grootword jare graag wil deel met perdeliefhebbers.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆!!

Stunning 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘇𝗼𝗴 and the lovely 𝗡𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 went home newly backed on Sunday, 11 May, and I returned to Potch.

I’ve started halter taming a well-tempered pony, 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮, and 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗮𝗹 — 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 will be backed soon as well. She’s a sweetheart with a bright future.

𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼, a newly backed warmblood currently for sale, is still in training and just keeps improving — such a promising horse with loads of potential!

It’s also good to be back at 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗠𝗖 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱, where things are starting up slowly due to this difficult horse sickness season. Taking it one careful step at a time.

This week, I will officially begin working with 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰, an Arabian rescue horse. He still needs to rebuild his trust in people fully, though his current owners have already done a wonderful job showing him love and care. I'm so excited to help him on his journey!

Another milestone — this past weekend I judged for the first time as a 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 at the Bloemhof qualifiers. I learned so much from the incredible Senior Judges I worked with and can’t wait to continue growing in this role.

And in between it all, I’m still enjoying every single 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗜 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 — what a joy it is to share this passion.

𝐅𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐬! 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?

1. Horses' eyes are among the largest on the planet, compared to human eyes, equine eyes are eight times larger.
2. A horse can better focus on distant objects by using his eyes as binoculars when looking into the distance.
3. Horses can see and comprehend two distinct things occurring on different sides of their bodies simultaneously because they have monocular vision, which allows them to use both eyes independently.
4. Horses can see almost 360 degrees since their eyes are on the side of their head, blind spots are limited to the areas immediately in front and behind their bodies.
