Don’t let parasites spoil your dog’s adventures this holiday season.
🕷️ Ticks
Ticks can transmit dangerous blood parasites, including Babesia, which causes babesiosis (biliary) in dogs.
Watch for:
• Weakness or lethargy
• Fever
• Pale/yellow gums
• Dark or reddish urine
Dogs pick up ticks in long grass, hiking trails, dunes, parks — even in your own garden. Early diagnosis is vital, as severe biliary can be life-threatening.
🐜 Fleas
By the time you spot one flea, there are already eggs, larvae and pupae in your home — adult fleas make up only 5% of the problem.
A single female flea can lay 40–50 eggs a day, more than 2,000 eggs in her lifetime.
Some pets develop flea-bite allergy dermatitis, causing intense itching, sores and hair loss. And remember — fleas are part of the tapeworm life cycle.
