An exciting new side quest for StilPaws ๐ŸŽ‰
Iโ€™m bringing my love for spoiling my four legged kids and loved ones and incorporating it into my love for helping our four legged companions. Iโ€™ve been making cakes and cupcakes for my dogs since I was a child and I would love to share that happiness with your four legged kids too ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿง
And of course I had to have something sweet on offer for the two legged beings too ๐Ÿ˜…

Contact me today to find out more and get your orders in.

p.s: more delicious treats options are in the making ๐Ÿ˜‹

Teaching backwards walking to a young dog is one of the most important things one can do. Backwards walking is a fantastic exercise used to work the hind limb muscles of the dog. It is also a very important exercise used to teach and improve hind limb awareness and placement. Most dogs are unable to walk backwards, let alone step over or onto something whilst walking backwards. This is an advanced exercise that should only be used under strict professional guidance as it is not an appropriate exercise for all dogs.

The young dog shown in this video is still a beginner. She is progressing well, but still lacks control of her body and tries to avoid the harder exercises. We work through it and she ends up doing very well with all three versions.

I am very excited to announce that StilPaws was offered a room behind Stilbaai Veterinary Clinic and we are officially moved in ๐ŸŽ‰ Youโ€™ll find us just down the driveway at the back of the clinic. This makes vet visits, physio visits, food shopping, and toys shopping so much easier as itโ€™s all in one spot.
Please feel free to chat to your vet, or reach out to me, about veterinary physiotherapy for your companion ๐Ÿพ

Just a friendly reminder to keep your four legged companions as active as possible in this cold, wet weather as it generally leads to a reduction in movement for both us and our four legged companions. This can lead to stiff and painful joints and muscles. Canine physiotherapy is here to assist with those who struggle in the colder months, and those who need to be entertained and exercised indoors. Please feel free to reach out should you like to find out more ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅถโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿถ

Starting the day off right with a massage ๐Ÿถ

Massage helps to relieve tissue tension, increase blood and lymphatic flow, increase flexibility, decrease stress, and to manage chronic compensatory patterns that put strain on the soft tissues. These are only a few of the many benefits.

In this series of photos, you can see Mila starts off a bit tense and reluctant as she is sore. Once Iโ€™ve managed to release the painful area, her body and demeanour changes and she is able to relax and eventually fall asleep ๐Ÿ’ค

Working with puppies is always a blast, but it can also be very challenging in a different way. Puppies donโ€™t understand most commands, they have very short attention spans, they need proper motivation and instruction, and they generally have very poor body awareness.

Savuti is an 8 month old German Shorthaired Pointer who comes for weekly physio sessions to work on her strength, coordination, body awareness, and general understanding of how to figure things out. Her human guardian is being proactive in attempting to prevent future injuries by making sure her foundation body strength and awareness has developed from a young age, much like children who are active and sporty, they grown up to be strong and hardy.

Savuti is also quite sensitive to being touched on her sides, as shown in this video, so this is another component that I am helping her to overcome. This is a fun introduction video to our sessions. She is quite the character ๐Ÿ˜… youโ€™ll see a lot more of her progress videos on my page.

Donโ€™t forget to like and share with a friend or fellow pet guardian ๐Ÿพ
