A meeting was convened at the Tarr residence in Linbro Park on the 29th of January 1994. Many names were considered for this new Federation club but generally the name PHOENIX found most favour, largely because the founder members viewed the formation of Phoenix as a rebirth of sorts - a resurrection of mutual interest. In accordance with the provisions of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of Sou
th Africa (GSDFSA), Phoenix passed through the formalities of stage 1 and stage 2 club status and was eventually granted voting rights on the GSDFSA Council and other representative bodies. Phoenix has always enjoyed a relatively larger membership with quality members and one of the largest numbers of breeders. It is predominantly as a result of these breeders that the rank of Phoenix members remains strong. The breeders have consistently introduced their new puppy buyers to the club to socialize and train their new companions. We pride ourselves in having a well structured club, with excellent facilities that cater for just about every aspect of the GSD dog sport.
