🐾 Why Microchipping Matters – A True Story from Our Clinic

Last week, a scared little cat was brought into Helderkruin Vet Clinic after being found wandering along a busy road. She had no collar, no name tag… and at first, no way of knowing where she belonged.

Luckily, we scanned her for a microchip – and there it was! Within minutes, we were on the phone to her relieved owner, who had been searching for her for three whole days. The reunion was full of happy tears (and a very loud purr). 💛

Microchipping is quick, painless, and could be the difference between losing your beloved pet forever or welcoming them home safe and sound. Unlike collars or tags, a microchip can’t fall off or be removed. It’s your pet’s permanent ticket home.

Today we’re slithering into appreciation for some of nature’s most misunderstood yet vital creatures — snakes!

At Helderkruin Vet, we’re proud to celebrate these incredible reptiles and their important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Snakes help control rodent populations, which in turn protects crops and reduces the spread of disease. Without them, our natural balance would be seriously disrupted.

Sadly, many snake species are endangered or vulnerable due to habitat loss, persecution, and illegal wildlife trade. On this World Snake Day, let’s raise awareness and shift the narrative — snakes aren’t out to get us, they’re out to keep nature in balance.

🐍 What can you do?
✔️ Learn to identify and respect local snake species
✔️ Avoid killing snakes — rather call a professional handler
✔️ Support conservation efforts and spread awareness

Let’s protect our scaly friends — they deserve our respect, not our fear.

URGENTLY LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME OR SHELTER🙏🐶

Please assist us in sharing this post we are URGNETLY looking for a shelter or fostering homes that is willing to help us take this Pitbull boy in. Our kennels at Helderkruin Vet have no space to keep all these strays.

This young boy has been with us for almost 4 weeks now, no owners have come forward and no one has contacted us regarding this pitbull.
