Welcome
Here at the Honeydew Animal Clinic, we have an integrated approach to animal health and healing, which allows our clients and patients to have the advantage of choosing between or integrating Western techniques & technology, and Eastern (Chinese) techniques & age-old methodology to assist in healing and sustaining health in their beloved pets. Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM
) involves a holistic approach, focusing on the total well-being of the animal as opposed to only focusing on known symptoms. TCVM has 5 branches of healing:
• Acupuncture
• Tuina (Massage)
• Herbal Therapy
• Food Therapy
• Qi Gong (Raising the energy of the practitioner)
How is TCVM applied? This will start with an introduction to TCVM healing and a TCVM pattern diagnosis. Dr. Cliff Meyer will spend a session discussing & diagnosing the patient in the owner’s presence. This introduction explains the basics of the healing process and the methods used. Once a TCVM diagnosis is made and correlated with the Western diagnosis, the process of treatment is discussed, including the methods used and the expected outcome. Most treatments start with 6 sessions. After the first 3 sessions, an evaluation is made as to the progress attained and the way forward. The owner is integrated into the treatment plan and its course of action. All owners are given work to do at home in between the sessions with Dr. Cliff Meyer. This homework helps to extend the healing between sessions. Both the practitioner and the owner assist in the healing of their animal. The owner is involved with the hands-on Tuina and food therapy prescribed to advance the healing process and flow of energy.
