Pretoria Dog Rescue NPC 2015/416285/08 PDR is a registered non-profit, pro-life dog rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary. All our dogs are medically treated & rehabilitated before being rehomed.

We rely on public donations to care for over 80 rescued dogs in the shelter and at foster homes. We need volunteers to help walk our dogs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9h00 - 14h00.

🐾 Meet Ace – A Gentle Giant Looking for His Second Chance 🐾

Ace is a gorgeous 2-year-old Pit Bull cross with a story that deserves a happy ending. His mom arrived at our kennels heavily pregnant, and Ace was one of the puppies born into our care. He was adopted as a puppy, but had to be returned because his family emigrated and unfortunately could not take him with them.

Now he's patiently waiting for a family to give him the forever home he truly deserves.

Ace has the long, athletic build of a Great Dane and absolutely loves to run, play, and explore. Whether he's chasing a ball, carrying around a stick, or playing with his favourite toy, he's always ready for fun. He also enjoys going for walks, but he'd thrive in a home where he has plenty of space to stretch his legs and burn off his energy.
He adores people and has a sweet, loving nature, although he's often happily off in his own little world. Ace is also an intelligent boy who enjoys learning and would make an incredible companion for an active family.

After being given up once, Ace deserves a home that will love him forever. Could you be the one to give this amazing boy the second chance he's been waiting for? ❤️

Meet Roxy! 🐾

This sweet girl has been through more than any dog should ever have to experience.

Roxy came to PDR with her best friend, Bobby.

They were adopted together, but sadly had to be returned a short while later through no fault of their own.

A few weeks ago, Bobby sadly passed away, leaving Roxy alone after spending so many years by his side.💔

We are desperately searching for a kind and loving home for this special girl. Roxy deserves a family who will be patient with her and give her all the love she has missed out on. All she wants is a warm retirement home where she can spend her days sunbathing, going for little runs, and enjoying plenty of cuddles.

Happy homecoming, Boetie! 🥳

After wandering the streets of Thaba Tshwane, Boetie was rescued by a kind volunteer and brought safely to PDR.

Today, this sweet boy has been adopted into the most wonderful home!

Avalanche (Ava) is looking for a new home through absolutely no fault of her own. Her family is moving to a place that sadly doesn’t allow pets, and this sweet girl deserves so much more than to be left behind.

Ava is a beautiful dog with the gentlest soul. She loves kids.

She’s only had one encounter with another dog and did absolutely nothing — she just wanted to play! She’s also living with a grown cat.

Ava does need space to stretch her legs and just be her happy, playful self. She has so much love to give and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and loyal companionship to her new family.

🐾 Meet Pluto , Your Next Adventure Buddy! 🐾
Pluto is a handsome 3-year-old Staffie × Labrador cross with a heart every bit as big as he is. This gentle giant absolutely loves going for walks and will happily spend hours chasing after his favourite ball. In fact, he loves it so much that he often drops it into the water ,something that makes us think he enjoys a splash too!
Pluto is incredibly intelligent and learns quickly, making him a wonderful companion for someone willing to continue his training and adventures. Although he's a big boy, he is one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs you'll ever meet.
Pluto would thrive in a home where he can be the only pet, allowing him to soak up all the love and attention he deserves. In return, he'll be your loyal best friend, always ready for the next walk, game of fetch, or new adventure.
