untains is the most remarkable sanctuary, for dogs who have lost their families or have been rescued from dire situations. Every day the dedicated team at Dogtown provide individual care to each of these dogs in a peaceful, tranquil setting while they wait for their forever homes. There is often a misconception that all rescue dogs are going to be damaged in some way, but that’s simply not true. There are plenty of wonderful dogs at Dogtown SA, who through no fault of their own have found themselves homeless and are just hoping for a second chance at a new life in a loving home. These special need dogs require professional care. At Dogtown we have a dedicated rehabilitation area where our full time qualified trainers and behaviourists work tirelessly each day, improving the lives of these misunderstood dogs. Often being their last glimmer of hope to become well-adjusted dogs who can live full and happy lives. Our retirement village provides a safe and loving environment for the more mature residents who often require special medical care and are sadly dumped at animal shelters when they become too much trouble. Every year thousands of precious dogs lose their homes and their lives. With your help, we can SAVE more lives and provide the best care for the abandoned and abused, while we search for loving families that will give them their happy ever after. We aim to offer a lifelong commitment to the dogs that come into our care and a lifetime of support to their new families.

Aries has never known a home 💔 Not once.
📍 Dogtown - Gauteng

At just 3 years old, Aries has spent his entire life in a shelter - growing up without a family, without a couch to curl up on, without someone to call his own.

And yet… he’s the gentlest soul, with the most beautiful green eyes that quietly take in the world around him.

Aries is a calm, thoughtful boy who moves through life at his own pace. He doesn’t rush, doesn’t demand - he simply watches, learns, and slowly finds his place. He feels safest in a peaceful, predictable environment where he can take things one step at a time.

He’s learning, he’s growing, and he’s ready… he just needs someone patient enough to show him what life outside the shelter looks like.

✨ Aries doesn’t need much - just time, kindness, and a chance.

Four years. That’s how long Milo has been overlooked.
At 8 years old, this beautiful Pointer/Lab mix still has so much life, love, and joy to give - and he’s been patiently waiting for someone to notice him.

Milo is the perfect balance of playful and clever. He loves his walks, enjoys splashing in water, and has recently discovered a talent for tracking - something that lights him up and gives him purpose. He’s a dog who thrives when he has something to do and someone to share it with.

He’s social, affectionate, and gets along well with other dogs. More than anything, Milo just wants to be part of a family again.

Meet Spike – 10 years young, and still waiting 💔
📍 Dogtown - Gauteng

Spike has been waiting since 2023… and we don’t understand how he’s been overlooked for so long.
After travelling all the way from Zambia to South Africa, Spike thought his journey would end in a loving home. Instead, he’s still waiting for someone to choose him.

Spike is a friendly, people-loving boy who forms deep bonds with his humans. He enjoys calm strolls, splashing in a paddle pool, and simply being close to the people he loves. At 10 years old, he’s past the chaos of puppyhood and ready for a peaceful, stable life.

He would do best as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention he’s been missing.

✨ All Spike wants is a soft place to rest, a kind hand, and a family to call his own.
