The horse had psychological and physical problems accepting the bit after the accident. He tried everything that was on the market to try and help the horse. The horse rejected everything and Johan realized the problem was the tongue. The horse kept on fiddling with his tongue and blocking his airway, he was also making funny noises and was trying to avoid contact with the bit by tucking his tongu
e into his throat blocking the larynx (as illustrated above). The horse had no confidence and trust in the bit. Johan was with his back against the wall!!! THE QUESTION WAS, HOW DO YOU FIX A PROBLEM LIKE THIS? It was his mission to develop something that could take the horse’s mind off the bad memories to accept the bit with confidence again. He did extensive research on horse’s mouths and with a rude awakening realized that the tongue is the most important mechanic in a horse’s mouth. This led him to play around with the bit. He first made a steel extension, it worked, but he still needed something more softer, but strong enough. He then went to a rubber extension, but, it was too soft. The only material to give him the perfect result was to go with a plastic extension. This made him realize that there is an opportunity in the market to help other horses but also in a very affordable manner. He took in consideration the cost factor for horse owners. Out of respect for all breeds and disciplines, the product was made to fit to all sizes of bits etc. This product was developed from an idea through trial and error to perfection for over 3 years. THE SOLUTION – TONGUE MASTER!!!
