I did a little research and this seems to be true. A lot of Christmas puppies are turned in to shelters right after January first. One shelter in North Dakota said they receive on average 70O dogs that are directly related to Christmas gifts. That’s just one shelter.

Also remember to adopt don’t shop.

It has come to our attention that the attached message is doing the rounds again on social media advising people that raw eggs could save your dog in the event of poisoning.

This is as fake as the fact that the earth is flat.

If you suspect poisoning please phone a vet for advise or rush your pet through - we are available 24/7.

Please refrain from giving your pet a raw egg to try and counter the toxin/poison. The raw egg could contain Salmonella which could lead to Salmonellosis. Your dog could also aspirate on the egg if it goes down the trachea and ends up in the lungs. Which could lead to further complications.

If it was me and I got forced to swallow a raw egg, I would most probably gag or vomit - why would your pet not suffer the same fate?

Should one induce vomiting in a poisoned pet you stand the chance of a chemical burn if the pet swallowed something like chlorine.

Please think before acting on these tips that circulate on social media.

Would you force a raw egg down your mother's throat if you thought she ingested something potentially harmful? I can already see mine swinging her arms at me furiously, boy am I in for it when she recovers.
