It is with great sadness that we have heard of the untimely passing of our fellow equestrian, Michael Blom.
Michael was a passionate, dedicated, hard working, kind, generous person, who had the most beautiful smile.
I got to know Michael when he was still riding in the Eastern Cape, before moving up to Johannesburg to start up a very successful equestrian yard. He was a brilliant rider with the most envious style on a horse, and he imparted this very same style onto all his pupils. One could always see his students in the show ring. They all had his stamp.
It was just 10 days ago that Michael was wizzing around on his trusted scooter at Gauteng Dressage and Showing Champs, supporting his partner Bobby and all his riders. Who would ever have thought that 10 days later we would receive the shocking news of his passing.

Michael, may you rest softly and gently now.
You shall always be remembered as being the kindest person. The equestrian world sure does need more people like you in it.

To Bobby, Di, family and friends, we at Windrush extend our deepest sympathy. May you all be granted courage and strength in the coming days, weeks and months.

Bitter sweet result today.

After the trauma of the Erasmus family's bakkie being stollen in Kyalami last night while we were having dinner, with all Jaune's show equipment and attire in the car, darling, dependable, special Moon gave Juane her second championship of the weekend.

Moon and Juane were 1st in the Open Junior Show Hunter, and then went one better to win the Gauteng Open Junior Show Horse.

When a group of friends come together to share bridles, saddles, coats, shirts, ties, boots, one begins to realise that these types of friends are more like family.

To Tamara, Franka, Cornia Leah, Bev, Hayden, Andrew, Julie, Carmen and everyone else who have supported the Ersamus family these past 24 hours, thank you from the bottom of my heart. From utter heartbreak to tears of joy, this championship is definately a bitter sweet result.
