Always be there for them as they are for you.

“Pets, it turns out, also have last wishes before they die, but only known by veterinarians who put old and sick animals to sleep. Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what was the most difficult part of his job.

The specialist answered without hesitation that it was the hardest for him to see how old or sick animals look for their owners with the eyes of their owners before going to sleep. The fact is that 90 % of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so that they don't see their pet leave. But they don't realize that it's in these last moments of life that their pet needs them most.

Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end. ′′It's inevitable that they die before you. Don't forget that you were the center of their life. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. No matter how hard it is, don't leave them.

Dont let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they dont like. It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life. They dont understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their owner’s consolation.

Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but they are completely strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the pet. Endure this pain for the sake of their sake. Be with them until the end.”

Times and methods change. I started off trying these methods but quickly changed to force free training. Far better results.

It upsets me to think that I did horrible things to my little dog, and that’s why I am writing this.

My dogs are pretty good on leash walks but my big boy Gandalf tends to pull a bit. He's very strong and has long legs so it's not easy to walk at the same pace as the others. I found this lead in the picture a while ago and it was a game changer.
It's a front lead harness which puts no pressure at all on his neck or chest. The idea is that if he gets ahead of us it pulls him sideways and he'll end up walking in a circle.
The first time I used it he walked with the leash loose the whole way.

Why we should care for these wonderful and remarkable creatures. Go to your nearest animal shelter and let a dog choose you...they know which people to choose.

It seems a strange place to bond with a dog, but ultra runner Dion Leonard found the perfect running mate while recently racing in the Gobi desert. The British runner was participating in the grueling 155 mile (250 km) 4 Deserts Race across China’s Gobi desert when he was joined by a small, stray do...

How to greet and pet a dog that isn't yours

Don't approach a dog but rather let him come to you. Let him sniff your hand and don't make any sudden movements towards him. Never pet a dog on top of his head or lean over him as this is really intimidating to them, instead pet him under his cheek gently once he has accepted your presence.

Always allow a dog room to move away or escape if for whatever reason he feels threatened by you, as most dog's instinct is flight before fight.

Most people do the human thing and move their faces closer to the dog's face for a kiss, but this could be dangerous, especially for children. In fact quite the opposite is preferred and that is to rather lean away while petting or greeting. Leaning away shows them that you are not threatening.

Stroking a dog on it's side gently is calming to them. I see a lot of people slap dogs on their sides for some reason....not a great idea either. Gentle and slow is always the way to go.

If a dog's posture suddenly stiffens or it growls or raises it's lips, then immediately stop what you're doing with him and slowly back off. This is a warning and must be recognised and understood. It isn't necessarily aggression but will usually be followed by aggression if not heeded.

Another thing I see humans do very often is to hug dogs. While we consider it love, most dogs actually do not like it at all. Most dogs will lean away or look at you sideways, flattening their ears. This is a sign of discomfort or even fear. They cannot flee and the next option is fight. Watch out for kids doing this and discourage them from doing so at all times.

If you have any questions about this feel free to ask.
Remember that dogs communicate mostly through body language and respond to your body movements before you even notice.

Positive reinforcement and love is the only solution.

It's so important to know how your dog reacts to other dogs when off leash. The dog that bit Honey did so unprovoked. If you think your dog may bite then you have to keep it on a leash.

How to train your dog to protect your family.

I get quite a few calls from people wanting me to train their dogs to attack burglars or people that threaten them.
I do not do this type of training, although I can tell you how to do it yourself in one sentence.

Treat your dog as a member of your family and show him that you love him every day and he will put his life on the line for you.
