A little about Leslie - she began rescuing dogs in 2004. But everything shifted when a pig named Winston Peanut entered her world—her true “life changer.”

As Leslie uncovered the truth behind the “teacup” pig myth, she saw countless animals surrendered once they outgrew human expectations. By 2012, Pigs ’n’ Paws evolved into a permanent haven, offering lifelong refuge to South Africa’s forgotten pigs.

The transformation went both ways. Reflecting on her journey, Leslie admits she needed saving just as much as they did: “They became my life.”

Pigs are not disposable novelties. They are intelligent, deeply sensitive beings who feel fear, offer affection, and learn to trust again. True responsibility doesn’t end when the work gets tough—it begins with an unbreakable vow to protect them for life.
