Some years ago, our family joyfully embarked on a holiday to the coast. We set off confidently for the seven-hour drive, leaving our precious pets in the capable hands of someone we knew and trusted well. She had spent time in our home and was familiar with all our animals. This included an elderly, blind and diabetic dachshund and a crossbreed receiving cancer treatment.

Everything seemed organised, and we fully expected to enjoy our time away.

As we arrived at our destination, I received a WhatsApp message that changed everything. Our house and pet-sitter simply said that she could not continue and was going home. She had fed the pets, but would not be returning.

Can you imagine the panic that set in? Our pets are family. We immediately began making desperate phone calls to neighbours, begging for help. Thankfully, we had tenants on the property who also loved animals, and they kindly stepped in to assist. Although our holiday was ruined, our beloved pets were thankfully cared for.

That experience made us realise just how valuable trustworthy, loving pet care truly is for families who need to be away from home. It was in that moment that our Pet Resort was born - a home offering quality care for pets of all kinds, not just dogs.

I grew up on a farm, and as children, my siblings and I collected every pet imaginable: owls, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, budgies, canaries, lovebirds, pigeons, mice, hamsters, cats, dogs (both large and miniature), lambs, calves, horses, ponies, chameleons, praying mantises, hedgehogs, tortoises… the list goes on.

I decided to let my own son to experience the same joy of caring for God’s creatures. This means that today, we are blessed with the space, facilities, experience, and heart to care for your furry and feathered family members too.

So, the next time you need a break away, send your family of pets to us. We promise to love and care for them as if they were our own, and to enjoy every moment with them until you return.
