WE’RE HIRING – LECTURER FOR THE SCHOOL OF EQUINE MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE

Summerhill School of Equine Management Excellence is looking for an experienced and dedicated Equine Studies Teacher to take over our student cohort for the remainder of 2025. This individual will also be involved in the day-to-day running of the Stud.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on educator who can deliver practical and theoretical teaching to our eight working students. Applicants should:

•⁠ ⁠Have practical skills – practical experience in stud management, horse handling, stable management, and equine health care is essential.
•⁠ ⁠Have extensive equine industry experience, particularly in stud management – experience in stable management, breeding, farriery, or equine business operations is beneficial.
•⁠ ⁠Have teaching skills – experience in educating, mentoring, or training students in an equine or agricultural setting is preferred.
•⁠ ⁠Have relevant qualifications – SAQA qualifications and a background in equine science, animal husbandry, veterinary technology or farriery are an advantage.
•⁠ ⁠Be organised and adaptable – capable of delivering a broad curriculum, from stable work to financial management of equine facilities.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SHOW-STOPPERS

Congratulations to all the Capital Stud horses that took part in Horse of the Year at Kyalami Park Club. It was a real treat to see the quality instilled by shining through in the show ring.

There were some stunning performances across the board, with special mention going to Jorja Rohrich on Capital Lazarus and Capital Redford, Charlouis Kuhn on Capital Precious Lady and Simone Vermeulen on Capital Cayleb who won their respective classes and Championships.

Congratulations to all, and thank you to Kyalami Park Club and the organisers for an exceptionally well run event.

CAPITAL KRONOS AND TAMAR GLIKSMAN - WINNERS OF THE INDOOR GRAND PRIX

Congratulations to Capital Kronos (Darco x Cash) and Tamar Gliksman on their well deserved win in the 334 Sporthorse Stud Indoor Grand Prix of South Africa. We are sure this will be the first of many title wins for this combination.

It gives our Team great pleasure to see Capital Kronos excelling at the top of the sport, alongside his progeny, including, of course, Capital Kollier (Capital Kronos x Capital A Star), who is currently competing in the 1.50m classes alongside his sire.

From the moment Capital Kronos’ first foals hit the ground, his value as a breeding stallion for South Africa was evident, and to see him winning national titles, AND breeding horses for the top of the sport truly demonstrates the value in breeding with . He is not only a champion in his own right, but breeds them as well.

Other notable results from the show, include Leona van der Merwe’s win in the 1.40m Championship with 334 Capital Catori (Catoki x Mylord Carthago). This exceptional mare, a graduate of the 2020 Capital Stud Warmblood Auction, is a regular winner in the top classes. Her performance in the 334 Indoor Grand Prix 1.40m Championships was nothing short of a showjumping masterclass, and we can’t wait to see this mare in the very biggest classes in the not too distant future. Congratulations, Leona and Catori!

All that remains is to thank 334 Sporthorse Stud and Maxwell’s Equestrian for hosting a fantastic show. We look forward to many more shows down in Natal in the near future.

It’s been a great month watching our Auction Alumni back in action doing what they do best in the showjumping ring.
