20 Years of Dedication – A Tribute to Cheri Watson
This year marks 20 years since Cheri Watson first joined the Boavida team back in 2005 — a young apprentice with quiet determination and an undeniable gift for understanding dogs. It wasn’t long before we realised that Cheri was destined to dedicate her life to working with animals.
From those early days, her natural empathy, deep compassion, and intuitive understanding of animal behaviour have set her apart. Over the past two decades, Cheri has trained and rehabilitated thousands of dogs, led countless obedience and protection classes, and helped shape what Boavida’s training philosophy stands for today.
While she has excelled in many disciplines — from personal protection and obedience work to retrieving, detection, and bird-strike control dogs — her true gift lies in transforming fearful, anxious, and misunderstood dogs that others often give up on. With patience, gentleness, and quiet authority, she helps them rediscover trust, turning uncertainty into confidence and fear into purpose.
Cheri is also one of the finest puppy developers we know. She has a rare ability to nurture instinct, build confidence, and prepare each puppy for its future — whether that’s a loving family home or a specialised working environment.
Two decades on, Cheri remains a cornerstone of the Boavida family — a mentor, a teacher, and a constant example of what it means to work with integrity, passion, and heart.
