Please be careful when removing solar when you move your system to a new location
We just had this problem where we removed our system and tripped the main breaker and it now showing tamper meter and now Steve Tshwete Local Municipality is giving us story’s about this problem

Want to hit us with there own sickening amount that we must pay.I am just informing you guys the careful

Your solar inverter likely fed excess electricity back into the grid, triggering the meter's Significant Reverse Flow (SRF) / tamper detection. The meter locked up and tripped the main switch to protect the grid.Why This HappenedMany prepaid and smart meters are highly sensitive. When a solar system is tied to the grid (especially during installation or removal), the inverter can send a small amount of power "backward." The meter interprets this as tampering or a bypass, locks up, and triggers a tamper alarm.Immediate Action to TakeDo NOT break the seals: Opening the terminal cover to try and "fix" it will make the tampering penalty much worse.Verify the installation: Make sure your solar installation is fully off/disconnected so the meter isn't receiving any rogue voltage.Contact your provider immediately: Report the issue to Eskom or your local municipality (e.g., Steve Tshwete Local Municipality if you are in Middelburg). You need to inform them it was caused by solar reverse-feeding, so they don't assume you bypassed the meter illegally.What Needs to Happen NextAesthetic Reset: The utility will usually have to dispatch a technician to clear the tamper code and reset the meter. In some cases, they will give you a "clear tamper token" to enter into the keypad.Inverter Settings: The solar installer must adjust your inverter settings to include Zero Export or ensure the CT (Current Transformer) clamp is correctly configured so no power is pushed back into the grid.Meter Replacement: If your meter is an older model that cannot handle solar, Eskom or the municipality may require it to be replaced with a bidirectional or "smart" meter designed to track solar energy.If you'd like, tell me:What brand of inverter do you have?Who is your electricity provider (Eskom or municipality)?I can help you prepare the right technical information to share with them so you can get the meter unblocked much faster.
