Barn Stories: ™️
One early morning, just before feeding time all the horses where standing in their stables waiting for their favorite groom to arrive to start feeding them.
As they all waited the fancy out spoken show horse starts the discussion that he is the best in the barn. “You guys know i win all the ribbons at the dressage shows every other weekend. I am for sure the best horse in our barn! And all the people love me the most! I have the best life..”
So the senior gelding peeks out his stable and gives a slight whinny. “Oh really well i am a companion to all the young foals on a daily basis, that have been weaned i have to teach them how to be horses and set them up to become like you.”
So all the horses got riled up about this discussion, so each and every horse gave their opinion to why they have the best life in the barn.
The young horses said well they do nothing just hang around in the field and drive the yard management crazy! “It’s fun to see them run after us when we break the fence! We are young and free!”
The broad mares as sassy as they are discussed that they get loads of feed and extra pampering just to be moms. “What better can you ask for a daily massage, extra goodies on our feed, this is the best life.”
During all this discussion the few riding school horses and ponies look at all the vein horses. And start neighing!
“Ha-ha-he-he! Oh how you guys give us such a good laugh!”
The elders speaks up: “well we might just be the ordinary lesson team but do you know something, we have the best life over all of you!”
“Oh really”: replies the show horse.
“Yes, firstly our riders never grow up, and you always have a little heart to hear beating as we ride so they can never out grow us, they keep on coming.”
“Oh for sure!” The small pony ads. “They feed us loads of carrots for doing nothing, just being there to walk through a few drums and over a few poles, giggling when we knock the pole on purpose sometimes.”
“I think the best thing it the fact that we can see happy faces time and time again! EVERYDAY! And turning a frown upside down ”.
“Oh and the nose kisses those are the best... I tend to give them a little nudge to say i want more!” said the softest of them all.
“And don’t forget about the hugs, those small little arms and hands all around our legs gives us a sense of accomplishment!” Shouts the fattest of them all.
As the riding school horses keep ons discussing their views on why their lives are the best the other horses soon realize that they are right. And that all the humans had to start somewhere and they all had to start ons these lesson horses and ponies.
In conclusion all the other barn horses apologize for always making fun of the lesson horses and ponies after they have been painted or calling them names when they walk past with a rider on their backs, that are still learning all the basics.
“Well if you guys put it that way, you really do have the best lives!”
All you could hear was all of them yelling saying “i want to be a lesson horse!” “I also want a little kid loving me!”...
-We tend to look past the hard working lesson horses and ponies, because they might not have the best legs or the finest heads.
But we forget that we all fell in love with our first lesson horse, he or she taught us everything we know today, showed us how to be as humans, how to love, except and care for others
We tend to think they have no value, but soon realize they build the life long horse dream and set up all riders for a future.
So today take a moment to think of your first riding partner, if you are lucky enough, go give them a stroke and a thank you for what they have taught you.
With endless patience from them you have accomplished what you have today through their love, carrying you around on them.
