Meet the team,
Hi I am Dr. CJ van Zyl the newest member to the Endumeni team.
I graduated from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria, in 2024 and completed my community service year in 2025 in Mpumalanga. I am currently working for Endumeni Herd Health and am based in Newcastle.
I chose to become a production large-animal veterinarian because I truly believe that farming and food production are the lifeblood of any successful community and country. Without healthy, productive farms, nothing else can function sustainably.
As veterinarians, we have a unique and important role—not only in caring for animal health and welfare, but also in supporting farmers by helping to balance productivity, economics, and long-term sustainability on the farm. I enjoy working closely with farmers, understanding how each farm operates as its own system, and finding practical, realistic solutions that suit their specific needs and goals.
I am highly motivated to become part of the Newcastle and Memel community and to build strong, trusting relationships with the farmers I work with. I am committed to providing the highest quality service and reliable support—whether it’s routine herd health, problem-solving, or simply being available when help is needed.
