Help Me Keep ORA’s Primary Animal Health Care Alive
Funding Request: R50,000
My name is Aphelele Olga Ramtolo, and I am a qualified Para-Veterinarian from Matatiele in the Eastern Cape. I founded ORA’s Primary Animal Health Care because I saw firsthand how many farmers and animal owners in rural communities struggled to access affordable animal healthcare.
What started as a dream to serve my community has become a reality. ORA’s Primary Animal Health Care is already operating and providing services such as vaccinations, deworming, disease prevention, basic treatments, animal health advice, and farmer education. Every animal I help and every farmer I support reminds me why I chose this path.
However, despite the impact we are making, I have reached a point where I cannot continue alone.
The demand for animal healthcare services continues to grow, but my resources are limited. Many farmers who need assistance live in remote areas that I cannot always reach because I do not have adequate transport resources. I often receive calls from farmers asking for help, knowing that their animals are sick or suffering, but I am unable to reach all of them.
At the same time, I am struggling to keep my facility open. The cost of rent and day-to-day operational expenses has become difficult to manage, and without support, I risk limiting the services that so many farmers and animal owners rely on.
I am therefore humbly requesting support of R50,000 to help sustain and strengthen ORA’s Primary Animal Health Care so that I can continue serving my community and reach more farmers who desperately need animal health support.
How the funds will be used
Facility Rental and Operational Costs – R15,000
To secure and maintain the premises from which ORA’s PAHC operates and continues serving the community.
Medicines, Vaccines and Medical Supplies – R15,000
To ensure that essential treatments, vaccines, dewormers, and animal health products remain available and affordable.
Transport and Mobile Outreach Services – R10,000
To reach farmers in remote communities who currently have little or no access to animal healthcare services.
Veterinary Equipment and Tools – R5,000
To improve service delivery through the purchase and maintenance of essential animal health equipment.
Farmer Education and Community Outreach – R2,000
To educate farmers on disease prevention, animal welfare, and best management practices.
Administration and Communication – R3,000
To support the day-to-day operations required to keep the service running effectively.
Total Funding Requested: R50,000
