So true…. There is no race

Michael Jung has had many star horses, how does he do it?
“I think a great rider is a rider who can teach the horse and has a good feeling for the horse, and you need a feeling for how good the horse is, and the prospect of the horse. Sometimes you have to be a bit more relaxed the first two, three years and not give them too much pressure because later after three, four years, he’ll be a top horse at the high level. It’s knowing how much pressure a horse can take and when to back off".

Another successful show for two of my lovely ladies.
Rivendell’s Sissi vN, sponsored by Regenesis-Vet, came second in the medium 3 with 65%. She was quite tense and did not enjoy the warmup but settled in her test.
Rivendell Bellafonte, sponsored by Equi-Feeds, came second in her first test and won her second test in the elementary classes. So pleased with how quickly she has settled into the higher work and trusts me. Such a pleasure to ride her. I think everyone needs a Rivendell Beregond baby!

So! Come back show after a year of not competing! Could have easily stayed in bed this morning and asked myself why we do what we do as competitive riders. Trying to remember everything that needed to be packed (forgot a water bucket), taking a new groom along to the show, and driving a much shorter to get to Mistico Equestrian Centre than previously!
I only took two horses this time, being Sissi vN sponsored by Regenesis-Vet, and Rivendell Bellafonte, sponsored by Equi-Feeds.
Sissi got 69, something for the third level third test and ended up second. Bella, at her first elementary show and our first show together as a partnership, placed second and first in the second level first and third test respectively.
Once in the arena, it felt like I was back in a happy place. Looking forward to the next competition!
