This girl has huge potential which will be unlocked bit by bit as we journey together.

Dear members, we're looking to rent a section of grounds Durbanville / Kuilsriver surrounding area) for training of working K9's (dogs) in advanced Obedience, Tracking and Protection.

Training will be conducted once a week (Sunday), from 07h00 to approximately 13h00.

If anyone can assist, please let me know. Our requirements are for a grass area and a section of plowed ground (if possible), in addition to some shade.

We will make sure that all rules will be followed and adhered to in order to ensure that your facility will be left as per the condition that we received it.

RickRaw: The 'go to' distributors of raw petfood, our uniqueness lies in distributing several different brands.

'We' are honored to have the support of this very experienced guy (I won't mention any names)... He doesn't say much... but isn't shy to share his knowledge and experience. He would mention keywords like balance, phases / levels, play, puzzle, right/ wrong, reward, communication, timing, consistency, repetition, etc. It will be drilled into your head.

If you are in the game, you should know all about it!

As RickRaw Petfood distribution, we are proud to be part of K9 Handlers Academy. It is really remarkable to see the progress in the dogs, but also the handlers (including some young ones). This is a group to watch!

Remember in this game, experience can't be taught... but to hook up with those who have the experience and are willing to share their knowledge is a valuable asset...

Never thought that this journey would go so far, whereby I'm positioned on the other side of the spectrum.

All I can say, what an awesome feeling...
My first take!!!

Myself and Nala are growing together as a unit. But it's not an easy road that many of us decide to travel along. It looks pleasing in some instances, but the sacrifice is great...

For me at the moment: This is really addictive 😃.

WHAT IS RAW GOAT MILK FOR DOGS?

Its milk, straight from a goat, that is not pasteurized. During the pasteurization process, good gut bacteria (probiotics) are “cooked” out of the milk—which is why the raw form is so great!

Just like with any other raw food, raw milk is good for dogs because it contains good bacteria that is not “cooked” out, allowing dogs to actually absorb the nutrients from the food they eat. Raw milk is filled with natural minerals like calcium, vitamins, enzymes, and trace elements.

Like with any other raw product, there are plenty of scare tactics to keep consumers and dogs away from consuming raw goat milk.

The major benefit of giving your dog raw goat milk is that it is chalked-full of probiotics:

BEFORE TOSSING OUT YOUR EGGSHELLS, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING FIRST! (which can help heal you and your pets' joints!)

“An egg is known to be a nutritional powerhouse, packed with protein, vitamins and minerals in both its yolk and white, but the membrane that surrounds a developing embroy may possess even more amazing qualities that can benefit health and well-being".

What is the eggshell membrane?

The most annoying part of the egg when trying to peel it, of course! The rubbery membrane, which can actually be the extremely beneficial according to researchers and their studies!

“A 2009 study published in the Journal of Clinical Interventions in Aging found that a supplement of natural eggshell membrane was effective for reducing knee pain and stiffness related to the condition without causing side effects that are known to result from long-term use of traditional treatments, like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.”

However this membrane needs to be offered at the raw, uncooked stage and not the boiled stage as heat can destroy the beneficial properties.

“Eggshell membranes contain substances with known benefits to joint health, including glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin and collagen amongst others, in addition:

• Collagen - A fibrous protein that supports cartilage and connective tissue strength and elasticity.

• Elastin - A protein that supports skin, cardiovascular, cartilage, and spinal health. Elastin gives tissue its elastic tension and ability to resume its shape after stretching.

• Desmosine and isodesmosine - Two little-known amino acids responsible for elastin’s elastic or “rubbery” properties.

• Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) - Includes glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid - vital polysaccharides that are structural components of connective tissue, interstitial fluids and skeletal structure.

• Transforming growth factor-b - A protein that plays a crucial role in cellular differentiation and immune function.”

The tricky part of course is actually peeling the membrane away from the eggshell. Crack the organic egg from your local farmer, use it as normal, and then attempt to peel that white rubbery skin-like membrane away from the eggshell. Then feed it direct to your pet or fire on top of their food!

The peeling may seem tough at first, but with a little bit of practice, you can turn what normally goes into your trash into a super nutritious healing machine for you and your pets.

KEFIR: This superfood is packed with beneficial probiotics 💪

What is kefir?
Kefir is a natural probiotic food obtained from the fermentation of small grains that contain a bacterial microflora (bacteria, fungi and beneficial yeasts). Among the beneficial bacteria that make up these so-called granules or kefir nodules we can find:

Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus
Lactobacillus helveticus
Lactobacillus casei subsp. pseudoplantarum
Lactobacillus brevis
Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis
Streptococcus thermophilus

The presence of beneficial fungi and yeasts in kefir granules is apparent. These fungis include: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida inconspicua and Kluyveromyces marxianus

Just like us, our dogs have an intestinal flora which are composed from a set of beneficial bacteria, which are essential to carry out healthy digestion.

Probiotics offer a strain of beneficial bacteria for our dogs (such as lactobacillus), naturally found in intestinal flora. By supplementing our dog’s diet with these microorganisms, we can help: strengthen their natural defenses, prevent the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria in their digestive tracts, optimize nutrient absorption and prevent gastrointestinal discomfort, such as excessive gas formation and diarrhea (only to mention a few)

Kefir, according to the people who live in the Caucasian Mountains, the “grain of life” and it contains many probiotic organisms that have incredible healing properties. While it is a similar consistency to plain yoghurt it is said to pack much more of a punch because it contains far more strains of friendly bacteria, which are crucial for a healthy gut. Kefir it not just good for humans but dogs can benefit from it too!

Advances in veterinary medicine have confirmed that the benefits of probiotics for our dogs are vast and this is because they can promote all kinds of health gains from strengthening the immune system to guarding against allergies and diseases. Research has also investigated the connection between imbalances of gut flora to anxious behaviour in canines.

So what is Kefir?

Kefir Milk

Kefir is made from fermenting small grains that contain bacteria, fungi and yeasts; all of which are beneficial to the body. There are two main types of kefir – water and milk. It can be made from cow, sheep or goats milk, but it can also be made with coconut water. If your dog is lactose intolerant a water based kefir might be best, or one made with goats milk.

The health benefits are huge and this comes from over 30 different strains of good bacteria contained in kefir along with vitamin B complex, vitamin A, D and K as well as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium minerals.

Like people, dogs can consume far too many carbohydrates – commercial pet foods for instance can contain up to 70% carbohydrate.
