Remember our beauty from yesterday? Meet Dolunay — she’s an Anatolian Shepherd Dog! 🐕💪

This ancient breed comes from Turkey, where they’ve been protecting livestock for thousands of years. Anatolian Shepherds are known for being:

✔️ Loyal and protective
✔️ Strong and independent thinkers
✔️ Gentle with their families but natural guardians

And her name? Dolunay means Full Moon in Turkish 🌙✨ — pretty fitting for such a striking girl!

🐾 Meet Raven – Thriving with Hypothyroidism 🐾

Almost 3 years ago, Raven started showing signs that something wasn’t quite right – weight gain despite not eating much, lower energy than usual, and a duller coat. After running a couple of simple blood tests, we diagnosed her with hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid).

Since then, Raven has been on thyroid replacement therapy and with regular monitoring at Bruma Lake Vet, she’s doing wonderfully! 💜

⚠️ Could your dog be showing these signs?
- Weight gain despite a poor appetite
- Low energy or sluggishness
- Hair loss or dry, flaky skin

Hypothyroidism is a common condition in
middle-aged, large breed dogs like Labradors, Golden Retrievers – and in our experience, quite a few Ridgebacks too. However all breeds and cross-breeds are at risk.

🐾 This weather has caught us all off guard — it feels more like summer than winter right now! With daytime highs close to 30°C, it’s important to keep your pets cool and safe:

🌞 Walk early morning or later in the evening to avoid the heat
🐾 Check paws after walks — hot pavements can burn sensitive pads
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🛌 Make sure your pet has a cool, shaded spot to rest
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a short time

Our furry friends feel the heat just like we do — let’s help them stay happy, hydrated, and healthy through this unexpected warm spell. 💙🐶🐱

🚫🐾 Essential Oils & Cats: A Hidden Danger

This lovely girl, Nugget, gave us quite a fright! She spilled lavender oil on herself and then licked it off while grooming. Lavender — like many essential oils — is toxic to cats and can cause liver damage or even be fatal. We had to wash her under sedation to keep her safe. 💙

Cats cannot process the compounds in essential oils, which makes even small amounts dangerous. Exposure can happen through skin contact, licking, or even inhaling strong fumes.

👉 The takeaway: Keep essential oils, diffusers, and scented products well out of reach of your pets.

If you suspect your cat has been exposed, contact us immediately. Early treatment can save lives.

🐛 Why is regular deworming important?

Worms don’t just make your pets uncomfortable — they can lead to serious health issues if left untreated.

Here’s what every pet owner should know:
✅ Worms can affect your pet’s digestion, coat condition, and energy levels
✅ Some parasites can be transmitted to humans (especially kids!)
✅ Puppies and kittens need deworming every 2–3 weeks until 12 weeks old
✅ Adult dogs & cats should be dewormed at least every 3 months
✅ Outdoor pets may need more frequent treatments

Keep your whole household safe by staying on top of your deworming routine! 🐾
