The most common assumption? "It must be worms." But the reality is usually quite different. Most of the time, scooting is a clear sign of impacted, swollen, or irritated a**l glands.

These two small sacs sit just inside your pet’s companion anatomy and naturally empty when they pass a firm stool. However, if the stool is too soft, or if the glands are naturally positioned a bit differently, fluid builds up. This causes intense pressure, itching, and pain, leading to that classic dragging behavior as they try to find relief.
