Some know, but for those who don’t, it’s with deep sadness that we announce beautiful Ziggy’s passing.
For over 12 years, Ziggy was not only the heart behind ‘Ziggy’s Pet Pamporium’, but a huge part of the Melville community. He adopted us all and somehow managed to charm absolutely everyone he met.
Many of you knew him as the big social cat wandering around 7th Street, visiting the bookshop, strolling into restaurants like he had a reservation, greeting customers, claiming attention and making himself completely at home wherever he went.
He loved car rides, adored people, prized his independent adventures and cherished being part of the magic of Melville village life, becoming a familiar and comforting presence — a tiny local celebrity with the biggest personality. The love people showed Ziggy throughout his life meant the world to us, and we know many hearts will hurt alongside ours now that he’s gone.
Thank you for every cuddle, every greeting, every photo shared, every treat sneaked under the table, and every bit of love you gave our boy over the years. Melville will not quite be the same without him.
At home, away from all his adventures and public appearances, he was simply our fluffy boy, our “pocket tiger.” Despite being known all over Melville, he never stopped being our baby. He was family. Our companion. Our little shadow.
We miss him more than words can say.
