A little behind the scenes about this special boy:
Lans legit notices EVERYTHING around him! He’s the most sensitive horse I’ve ever met! So some days he’s super calm and easy to work with but other days…oh boy can he be tricky!😂 He can get super anxious, tense and spooky and sometimes no matter how calm I remain, he doesn’t get any better! So I’ve had to learn to just laugh it off and think “ok I guess we’ll try again tomorrow😂”. And a weird fact: he’s super scared of birds! Imagine that! A 500kg horse scared of a flipping bird😳🤣 And don’t even get me started on the thatch jump shed…I’ve had Lans for more than 2 years now and he’s been to my arena probably over a 100 times and past the thatch jump shed probably over 100 times so you’d think that he’d stop spooking at it by now right?! Nope. He STILL THINKS it’s the most TERRIFYING thing he’s ever seen!🤣
Anyways, I think it’s because of his quirks that he actually trains me more than I train him! He’s taught me an incredible amount especially just small life lessons like having patience, opening my mind to different ways of doing things and being willing to let things that are out of my control go and try again tomorrow. I used to get super frustrated when he had days of being super tense and spooky and now I know how to control my emotions so much better. So yeah, thanks Lans for giving me those difficult days of intense frustration because it’s taught me to be a much better horsewoman❤️ And we’re now the team we are because of it. Grateful for this special boy each and every day 🙂
