So that is it for welfare steri clinic's for the year! Doing a quick calculation, we have sterilised 502 dogs and 242 cats this year. If you work out the number of kittens and puppies that haven't been born, that is a huge number of lives saved.

We spent the weekend in Phoenix doing a steri clinic for . Saturday poured with rain just as we were finishing the last dog which made it a little challenging as we navigated the river running through the marquee 😃.

We then did cats on Sunday, which thankfully was a warm dry day.

Many thanks to everyone who supports these organisations that work tirelessly to control the overpopulation of dogs and cats. And many thanks to the volunteers of these organisations for everything you do.

We did our final steri clinic for the year, and due to a big soccer tournament happening in Mpophomeni, we had to do it at our clinic in Merrivale. Thanks to Mfundo and Vuyo as well as Menzi for fetching the dogs and cat and bringing them through to Merrivale.

We sterilised 14 dogs and 1 cat and with a bit of careful shuffling around in the clinic, between, the toilet, the office, the consulting room and some cages, we managed to keep everyone separate and safe until they were ready to be taken home.

Thank you to for another succesful steri clinic. We worked in the Underberg community hall on Saturday, and the Himeville community hall on Sunday. Many dogs from the community came in for vaccinations and rabies boosters, and we sterilised 30 dogs and 11 cats.

Many thanks to Virginia and John for accommodating us especially after we ended up staying another night due to finishing quite late on Sunday and the big storms that were not great to be travelling home in.

Please make sure all your pets rabies vaccinations are up to date, even if they never leave your yard. Infected animals including wildlife can enter your property.

What are the high risk areas in South Africa?
occurs in all nine provinces in South Africa and rabies in dogs is very common in KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Limpopo. Stay away from stray animals, and do not pick up or take home animals you don’t know. When travelling with your pets, ensure that they are up-to-date with their rabies vaccinations and carry their vaccination booklets with you.
