Sometimes, it IS brain surgery.
Meet Sniper – a much loved English Bulldog who recently came to Hilton Veterinary Hospital with breathing difficulties and signs of intense pain. While brachycephalic dogs like Sniper often struggle with BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), something didn’t quite add up.
Sniper’s head bobbed abnormally, and he showed significant discomfort, especially with neck movement. Our specialist team took a closer look – and what we found was both surprising and concerning.
A full-body MRI revealed a large tumour in the left hemisphere of his brain.
Thanks to the expertise of our team of 3 veterinary specialists, including Dr Kenneth Joubert, Dr Martin de Scally and Dr Sara Boyd, Sniper underwent a successful 4-hour brain surgery to remove the tumour completely.
And the results? Remarkable.
By the next day, Sniper was standing and drinking on his own. A few days later, with the help of our dedicated handlers, he was outside stretching his legs. Then after two months of focused rehabilitation, he was walking and running unaided and full of personality once more.
We’re so proud of our incredible veterinary team and grateful to Sniper’s family for trusting us with his care.
Because here at Hilton Veterinary Hospital, healing is more than medicine – it’s a team effort, powered by compassion and skill.
