The countdown is on… but some things should not be shared with your pets.

Alcohol, chocolate, onions, grapes, fatty braai leftovers and sweet treats can make pets very sick, even small amounts can be dangerous.
Rather spoil them with their own pet-safe treats and fresh water.

Let’s keep the celebrations fun and safe for everyone in the house.

Hot Day, Cool Pets
When temperatures rise like today, our pets feel the heat much faster than we do.

Watch out for heat exhaustion
Signs include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.
Always make sure your pets have:
✔️ Fresh, cool water
✔️ Shade or a cool indoor space
✔️ Limited exercise during the hottest parts of the day (late morning to late afternoon)

The 7-Second Rule for Hot Roads
Before heading out for a walk, place the back of your hand on the tar or pavement:
If you can’t hold the heat for a full 7 seconds, it’s too hot for paws.
Hot surfaces can cause painful burns in seconds, even when the air feels manageable.

Rather walk early morning or later in the evening, stick to grass where possible, or skip the walk altogether on extreme heat days.
