🤍🐾 Dachshund Colour Spotlight: Cream Longhair – featuring Freya 🐾🤍
Our beautiful girl Freya is a lovely example of a cream longhaired Dachshund 🤍
Cream Dachshunds are known for their soft, elegant colouring, which can range from a pale creamy shade to a slightly warmer cream with deeper tones through the coat. In Freya’s case, her cream coat has a soft warm richness underneath, which gives her such a beautiful glow and makes her even more special.
But what makes Freya so lovely isn’t only her colour — it’s also the fact that she is a longhaired Dachshund.
Longhaired Dachshunds are believed to have developed from the original smooth-coated Dachshunds, with breeders introducing longer-coated dogs, most likely small spaniel-type dogs, to create the beautiful silky coat we know today. The result was still very much a Dachshund at heart — brave, clever and full of character — but with a softer, more elegant coat and often a slightly gentler expression.
Many people feel that longhaired Dachshunds have a slightly softer personality compared to smooths and wires. They are still playful, clever and wonderfully stubborn in true Dachshund fashion, but longhairs are often described as:

Of course, every Dachshund has their own personality, but longhairs often have such a calm, loving charm about them — and Freya definitely carries that beautifully 🤍
Just like every Dachshund, longhaireds still need the same important care:
• a healthy balanced diet
• good weight control to protect their backs
• regular brushing to keep the long coat clean and tangle-free
• safe exercise and less jumping off high furniture
• lots of love, care and responsible breeding behind them
