Our new sign is up thanks to the help of Solly and Morris. It's very visible from the road so hopefully people will see we are open. For some reason there is a storey going around that we closed down after COVID.

We do a fair number of call outs to remove snakes which aren't always there. This Snouted Cobra (Naja annulifera) was in a swimming pool with a small amount of water in the bottom and couldn't get out. An easy rescue and will be released with a Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) and Southern African Python (Python natalensis) also recently caught. A big thanks to the people for not killing them and opting for a removal.

Feeding moments have to be always the best at the park 😊😊

Although being a Reptile Park we do have some other critters on display. This is our Feather Leg Baboon Tarantula from West Africa. An arboreal species and often hidden so it's nice to see it out.

Some newbies at the park that hatched last night. These are Corn Snakes (Pantherophis guttatus) and very popular with budding young herpetologists.

One of our Black Spitting Cobras (Naja nigicincta woodi) checking if there was any food on offer. They are from the north western side of South Africa and one of the two true cobras in SA that spray there venom. The other being the Mozambique Spitting Cobra (Naja mossambica) which is from the north eastern side.

One thing that annoys us the most is when we find paving bricks removed from the path to throw at the crocodiles. Sadly some people aren't happy unless they move.

Yesterday was particularly hot in the Lowveld and here Oom Len, the male Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) is cooling down. As they get older they have less teeth but enough to do the job.

This is Osama who helps out on the weekends and lives in Sand river. Yesterday he was assisting with cleaning the Black Mambas (Dendroaspis polylepis) water bowl. You can see a very relaxed snake lying on the rock behind. Osama has come a long way since first arriving as a casual worker.

Our Southern African Pythons (Python natalensis) are enjoying their new enclosure and have no more problems with the bacteria that was affecting them before. It's an open cage with a mesh top so they get the full pleasure of the sun.
