🐔 From Contained and Commodified to Cared for and Free

Remember the 10 chickens rescued by our Inspector? Some tied by the legs, some squashed into a plastic bag. They were breathless, bewildered and battling the odds.

Today, we’re overjoyed to share that they’re no longer victims, they’re victors.💪 After a few days of R&R (rest and roost), these plucky little souls are finally finding their rhythm. One has taken up the role of fearless trailblazer, while the rest strut confidently between coops like they own the place — because frankly, they do.

They have a new place to call home and their wonderful adopter shared this: “One is very brave and roams, the others go between the coops. They are very strong personalities with good self-preservation.”

Yes, they’re full-on feathered divas. And they've earned every minute of their freedom.

Just days ago they were facing the unthinkable. Now they’re living the dream:
✔️ Dirt baths
✔️ Sun on feathers
✔️ Endless snacks
✔️ No plastic bags in sight

Let’s be honest — they still look a little ruffled. Freedom isn’t an instant makeover, but they’re finally doing what chickens were meant to do - roam, forage, socialise and squabble about absolutely nothing.

We hear it all the time:
❌ “It’s just chickens.”
❌ “There are bigger things to worry about.”
❌ “Why bother?”
Because we will bother. Every life matters. Whether it barks, purrs, clucks or just stares at you suspiciously from inside a bush.

This is what standing up for the voiceless looks like.
And this is what the change you make possible looks like.

🚨 Eagle Encounters Folds in High Court Fight

After we uncovered shocking cruelty at Eagle Encounters and laid criminal charges, they dragged the Cape of Good Hope SPCA into a drawn-out High Court battle. But now, justice for the voiceless has prevailed. Eagle Encounters has formally withdrawn their legal challenge – and must now pay for the wasted legal costs they caused.

This clears the way for criminal prosecution to proceed. The fight for accountability is far from over – but this marks a powerful victory for animal welfare and the rule of law. 🐾

After patiently waiting at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, our charming wire-haired terrier boy Rufus has finally found his forever home — and it was worth the wait! 🏡💖

His new dad, Jamie, shared:

“My wife and I adopted Rufus from the SPCA nearly two weeks ago… Rufus is great. He seems very happy! He’s very relaxed and settled at home. Everyone who meets him loves him.” 🌹

Once described as a calm, well-mannered boy who helped put younger dogs at ease, Rufus has now stepped into the life he always deserved — full of love, comfort, and companionship. 🐕💕

Because every tail deserves a happy ending. ✨
