The Animal Welfare Society Helderberg is a registered Non Profit Organisation. There are 28 paid staff members and a small team of volunteers who help with the day to day running of
the kennels. There is also a charity shop located off-site. The kennel hosts a facility for

strays and surrenders. The facility
also includes a veterinary division and is situated in Gordon’s Bay. The AWS Helderberg has a mobile clinic which hosts primary care and operates in Macassar, Eerste river, Tarentaal Plaas, Nomzamo and Sir
Lowry’s Pass, plus various locations in between and at reasonable request. A small inspectorate investigates complaints and assists in collecting sick animals for treatment and then returning them home. Sterilization is high on the agenda of the AWS Helderberg. AWS Helderberg is a proud member of the Cape Animal Welfare Forum.

Leo was rescued off the streets from extremely abusive circumstances. We literally took him away while he was being beaten, kicked and smacked. He is around 6 months old and a medium size. He gets on very well with other dogs and doesn't have a problem with them. He is very shy of people and takes quite a while to feel comfortable with you. He has the biggest heart and the gentlest soul. We have no doubt that in the right home environment, that he will blossom and flourish with patience, time and understanding. He won't cope well with loud, rough toddlers and will need a gentler environment. He has the potential to be an extraordinary soul... He just needs love, confidence boosting and time. He is finding kennel life extremely overwhelming and stressful, and we are absolutely desperate to find a special home for him. He seems to be fine with cats. Rosabelle is a very beautiful one year old girl that has been surrendered to our kennels. She gets on very well with other dogs and loves people of all ages! She is awfully sweet natured, very friendly and loves to spend time with us! She is very playful and affectionate, and she adores being cuddled and loved! She is a precious soul who will make a very special companion and family pet! When we enter her camp she always gives us the biggest smile and tail wag! She must sleep inside at night and she will do best in a home where she has canine company during the day. She is a gentle girl with a beautiful soul who loves to be close to her human. George is a gorgeous five month old boy that was rescued from a life on the streets. He is a sociable and beautifully natured dog, who gets on very well with other dogs and loves playing with them. He is a sweet and gentle boy but also a typical puppy. He loves his toys and loves to have fun! He is very trainable around cats - his new owner will need to be committed to some training. He loves to be close to his human and canine companions, and is the best cuddler! He loves his food and treats and is very eager around meal time. We would love him to go to a home where he will have a canine friend to play with! He needs a good size garden, daily exercise, some training and a warm bed inside the house at night! Mama is a beautiful little girl that was rescued from the streets. We estimate that she is around 5-6 years old and she stands under the knee. She is soft natured and so loving! She is very sociable and gets on well with other dogs, but she is not good with cats! She is affectionate and loving, and she loves to give kisses. She has times when she is playful and energetic, but mostly she is calm and quiet. She loves her food, treats and toys! She is very human orientated and we would love her to go to a home where she will have some human company during the day. She needs a warm bed inside the house at night and a very special place in the family! She is a pleasure to be around and she will always brighten your day with her warm personality and loving heart! All these dogs are unclaimed strays that have been picked up in the last few days. None of them have any form of identification and we would really love to find their owners. If one of these dogs belong to you, please come and collect your dog. Our kennels are open every day Monday to Sunday from 08:30 to 15:00. A fee of R200 will be charged which will cover the cost of a microchip. Thank you!

Shadow is a very handsome middle aged boy that was found on the streets and never claimed. He gets on well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them! He is a very happy, friendly, contented and playful dog with a lovely personality and a gentle soul! He has a beautiful heart and will fit in extremely well with any family. He is a gem and it's such a pleasure to spend time with him! He needs a good sized garden, a warm bed inside the house at night and daily exercise! He will make a very special family pet and awesome companion! He is always smiling, with a wagging tail and sparkly eyes, and he has a really positive attitude! ❤️PLEASE SHARE FOR A NEW HOME TOGETHER❤️
Billy (mixed breed 27kg) and Poekels (maltipoo 6.5kg) are both 6 years old and neutered males, with all their shots up to date. They have not been microchipped yet. These two grew up together and have a very strong bond. Billy did get attacked by a large dog as a 7 month old so he does have some reactive issues around large dogs, especially when on lead, but on off-lead walks, he's pretty well behaved as long as he's given his space. He has never attacked a dog and will only growl and bark at personal space bubble intruders. Poekels is very well socialized and will greet everyone and everything with a wagging tail. They are both house trained and sleep indoors at night. Billy does not do well with cats or small children, but he plays well with teenagers who can handle his silly antics. They are well trained in Afrikaans to "sit, lê, wag" and even high5 which they both love doing... I put a lot of time and effort into their training as youngsters and never dreamed this day would come, but unfortunately life takes unexpected twists and turns and here we are. These two are the perfect companion dogs and need to be homed together to a large yard where they sleep inside at night with someone around during the day. They adore cuddles and playtime! They are not at our kennels but currently in a home in Somerset West. Very strict home checks will apply. Minnie is the most beautiful 10 month old girl that has been surrendered to our kennels. She is a very sweet dog who gets on so well with other dogs. She is house trained and leash trained. She has never lived with cats and doesn't know them. She can be quite shy and nervous when meeting you for the first time, and just needs a bit of time to get to know you. She is a very sweet natured, friendly and playful dog with a beautiful smile and the most loving heart. She has quite a bit of energy and will be well suited to an owner who will exercise her daily! She needs a good size garden, a warm bed inside the house at night and a very special place in the family. She thoroughly enjoys the company of her camp friends and would love a canine friend to play with in her new home. She has a lovely temperament and will make an unconditionally loving companion and such a special friend! She is healthy and full of life, and would love to join you on fun activities and outdoor adventures! She will brighten your day and always put a smile on your face!
