We are back! After the postponement of our last show, we are excited to announce our next show date! Come and join us from the 25th to the 27th at the George Riding Club, "For a Better Tomorrow". Whether you ride, have a friend who does or just want to enjoy the day, we'd love to have you ! Refreshments, light meals, drinks, a pool table, kiddies play area and more!

Getting to know our officials: Martino Truter

Dr. Martino Truter, began his veterinary career at the George Animal Hospital, where he has been working since 2011.

Dr. Truter is actively involved in professional veterinary organizations. He serves as a member of the SAVA (South African Veterinary Association) Southern Cape Branch Central Committee, and the RuVASA (Ruminant Veterinary Association of South Africa) Central Committee.

Additionally, he is a member of SAEVA (South African Equine Veterinary Association). Dr. Truter is also an FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) Treatment Veterinarian and FEI Official Veterinarian, providing care for equine athletes at international events and ensuring compliance with strict veterinary standards.

Discovery SA Adult Eventing Championship 2024

Noemi started learning how to ride at 14. At 18 she becaame a professional rider. Her family invested in a farm, to breed horses and together they started a riding center with Noemi’s uncle as her trainer.

By age 21 she started training with different Spanish olympic riders. She believes the process of learning more is the key to success. She loves flat work, rehab and schooling horses to develop their full potential.

“Dressage gave me the resources to excel, and help horses regardless of the discipline.”

Noemi has competed in dressage in different levels and Alta Escuela Española in GP level. Three years ago, she moved to South Africa where she has been training riders.

With an extensive list of celebrated accolades, Noemi, is a Provincial A Panel Dressage Judge In South Africa. In Spain, she is also a Alta Escuela Provincial panel Judge.

She is a qualified Equestrian Technique Dressage trainer (first level of the Spanish Eqüestrian Federation) since 2004 allowing her to train horses and riders on all levels from beginners to GP in Dressage and Doma Vaquera.

Getting to know our officials: Piet Dirks, Course Builder

Piet has been with the George Riding Club for 30 years. He is an experienced, passionate and dedicated Provincial Cross Country Course Designer with a passion for his craft.

Piet has built Cross Country jumps for the 2024 National Championships and numerous provincial championships with great success and to the delight of cross country riders from across SA.

Piet’s dedication and absolute love for what he does is evident in the results you will see during the Discovery SA Adult Eventing Championship 2024.

Getting to know our officials: Jacki Peskens, XC & SJ Course Designer

Jacki is one of the highest qualified cross country course designers in South Africa and the only female in her position.

She has been designing for 20 years and has been involved with FEl for the last 15 years. Although she is based in the Eastern Cape, this talented course designer has designed in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KZN.

Jacki has also designed in the UK at the Osberton International Show. Being the first South African to design in the UK. She has been to Poland, Italy and Kenya for FEl seminars.

Jacki thoroughly enjoys the education associated with the FEl and continues to grow her knowledge of the sport and welfare of horses.

Getting to know our officials: Dr. Keith Spargo, Vet Delegate

Dr Keith Spargo is a Vetinary Radiology Resident (BSc Hons, MSc (Vet Sc), BVSc) and a lecturer and resident in veterinary diagnostic imaging where he focuses on equine imaging at the University of Pretoria’s Vetirinary Faculty.

Since 2019, Dr Spargo has been an FEI listed veterinarian starting out as a permitted treating vet and is now a Level 2 Official veterinarian. Over the past 6 years he has worked at numerous national equestrian events especially in the discipline of Eventing.

Equestrian sport, specifically Eventing, holds a special place in his heart since this was his discipline of choice during his junior years as a rider.

Working at FEI shows, allows Dr Spargo the opportunity to give back to the sport he loves in addition to ensuring the welfare of horses’ is maintained.

In addition to his teaching, clinical, research and FEI commitments, Dr Spargo is the current chairman elect for the South African Equine Veterinary Association.

Getting to know our officials: Miranda Olivier, Assistant Steward

Miranda started riding when see was 11 years old. Her motto is “To understand a horse, is to be loved by a horse.”

She became a Steward in 2014 and attended her 1st FEI Eventing Transfer up course in Namibia in 2016.

More recently, she attended a FEI level 2 transfer up course for Show Jumping in 2024 in Kentucky, USA.

She has competed in eventing on her now retiree Namibian warm blood, Seeis Lady Diveine. Currently she is competing in Show Jumping on her OTTB, Mr Ixeman.

Getting to know our officials: Sharron Trueb, Chief Steward

Sharron, a retired Physiotherapist, and more recently an Equestrian Administrator is based in Cape Town.

She is an FEI Jumping 2* Judge and 3* Steward and an FEI Eventing 2* Steward. Well known as an experienced Show Organiser for both Show Jumping and Eventing.

Recent Appointments include:
• Foreign Steward for Longines Global Champions Tour of Monaco 2024
• Assistant Steward British Eventing Championships at Hartpury 2024
• Assistant Steward LGCT London 2024
• Assistant Steward Blair International Horse Trials 2024
• Member of Ground Jury Hartlands World Cup Qualifier 2023.
