After a slight delay all Achi's tests have come back and never has a negative been such a positive outcome. 🩷

We have also had an update from Cape Town to say that he has settled in and is doing well in quarantine. We trust that he will be released soon.

A message from Dr Wood:

QUARANTINE LIFTED

At last, we can open and start to offer our services to our clients. Achi left yesterday morning en route to (hopefully) a short stay at a state quarantine facility in Cape Town.

The clinic has been professionally disinfected as a precaution. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those in our community and abroad who have supported us emotionally and materially during what has been a difficult episode.

I would like to emphasise that at no time did I seek to defy the Veterinary Services but having a profound regard for the sanctity of life, sought to do what I considered correct under the circumstances. In this regard I would like to make a special mention of Dr Kim Rosslee for her empathy and absolute professionalism in handling this difficult situation

We came close to losing the battle to save Achi this morning, but he has received his third, and we fervently hope final, stay of ex*****on.
Part of the conditions demanded are that our practice remains under quarantine and closed to all members of the public until Friday 29 August. By that date we are hoping that all the necessary test results will be available.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank the owners of the animals that are on lockdown with us for their patience and understanding. Achi is not the only animal to be affected by this saga. We have 4 dogs and 3 cats they were admitted earlier this week for treatment and procedures that are not able to be sent home.
We also thank all our loyal clients for their support during this challenging ordeal.
