There is a growing crisis in Durban with roaming dogs on the roads, resulting in a significant increase in attacks. ⁣
⁣
Please be aware of the correct protocol to keep our community safe:⁣⁣⁣
⁣
⁣⁣👉🏼 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐬: If a dog is manageable and safe to handle, members of the public can bring it directly to our practice.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣👉🏼 𝐒𝐏𝐂𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: The SPCA will only collect a dog if it is already restrained, in a confined area, or safely held at our hospital.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣👉🏼 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞: If a dog is roaming dangerously or an attack occurs (including through a fence), contact Metro Police. If you know where the dog lives, provide the owner’s address so Metro can charge them under animal by-laws.⁣⁣⁣
