Some days on Doornkraal feel borrowed from another century. Like a dream. Or even a painting.

The Swartberg and the Kammanassie got dressed in snow this week. The veld has been beaming with yellow flowers, and the mares are carrying new life. There is something about the quality of the air, a crisp promise felt.

This is why we choose the Klein Karoo, over and over. And this is why we bring you Klein Karoo Horse Adventures. Not to go somewhere, but to be here, properly, unhurriedly, in a landscape that has been here long before any of us and will still be here, long after we are gone.

Die skade was groot, maar die skoonheid skyn immer deur.

Min woorde kan beskryf wat jy raaksien op die rug van n perd, sonder mense rondom jou en genoeg tyd om alles om jou in te neem.

Die poort was nog altyd indrukwekkend, en dit is nogsteeds pragtig. So na die vloede en sonder ’n pad vir motors, was die perde in hul element. Deur puin en vloeiende water, sonder om eers te huiwer.

Wat die geslote poort vir De Rust gaan kos, het nie dramatiese beskrywing nodig nie. Dit is eenvoudig die werklikheid van ’n klein dorpie waar die pad na die buite wêreld hoofsaaklik deur berge loop.
Met dit gesê, nooi ons jou steeds uit om te kom kuier. Vat die lang pad, bly ’n ekstra aand. Die Klein Karoo vergoed altyd die moeite.

’n Nota oor paaie: George na Oudtshoorn is oop, en van George deur die Karoo is steeds moontlik deur Willowmore, verby De Rust.

Die Meiringspoort en die perde wag op julle aankoms. 🐴
