SCHNAUZER 'BUMPS'

I've had several of my Schnauzer clients who are concerned about their Schnauzers developing 'scabs' on their backs.

RELAX!! - It is not serious or contagious.

It is called SCHNAUZER BUMPS, or the Schnauzer comedo syndrome. These bumps are caused by blocked hair follicles resulting from abnormal keratinisation and excessive sebum production. While typically not painful or itchy, they can become inflamed and infected, leading to more severe symptoms.

Treatment:
Using medicated shampoos containing sulfur, salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide can help loosen and dissolve the comedones.
VERY IMPORTANT
* Don't squeeze or try to scrape them off
* Proper grooming can help manage the condition.

Please, contact me if you would like further advice.

Louise.

Most cat lovers ask me, "Is it necessary to bathe a cat?" As specialised pet groomers, we strive to pamper our hairy children and stress them as little as possible.

They all act differently. In most cases, it's not easy to go ahead and do a simple grooming. Cats are very fragile and may be too scared to cooperate. They may be fearful and therefore display various levels of aggression, they may be arthritic, or old and frail so touching them causes distress etc.

My advice to my clients is to consult their veterinarian first. They provide the best advice to get the best results.

It is very important for both the groomer and the cat, to minimise stress.

I adore and love all hairy children and when they feel good and clean after a groom, I feel rewarded!

Please talk to me if you have any concerns about your cat's requirements and we will ensure that we take good care of them.

Best Wishes Louise
