Dogz360

Dogz360 At Dogz360, we focus on more than obedience — we help you build a calm, confident, and well-mannered dog through clear, positive training.

Based in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town, offering small group classes and 1:1 sessions. A love for dogs brought us together, and now it’s how we spend our days. I am a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist and have been training at Winelands Dog Training for the past 5 years. My husband soon joined the journey, and now we train side by side, working with dogs of all ages (puppies, teens and adul

ts alike). We’re proudly growing our own brand while staying connected to the Winelands family. Our approach is gentle, heart-led and real-life focused. Because a happy dog means a happy home

Warning: Excessive levels of cuteness ahead. ⚠️

This is the first weekend I've managed to get some decent photos of our current puppy class, and I think you'll agree... these little faces deserve a moment in the spotlight.

Between the zoomies, the treats, the learning and the occasional puppy shenanigans, these youngsters are making fantastic progress.

The training is going well... but the cuteness is completely out of control. 😂

❤️🐾 This was such a proud moment to watch.
When Odie first joined us, running freely like this wasn't always possible. While we're still working through some of his challenges, his family's commitment to understanding and supporting him has been incredible.

Week by week, Odie's world gets a little bigger.

This weekend's long-line recall session was a beautiful reminder that progress isn't always about perfection. Sometimes it's about a dog getting the freedom to stretch his legs and enjoy being a dog. ❤️🐾

🐾 Better late than never! 🐾

Last weekend, these teams completed their course with Dogz360, and I couldn't be prouder of how far they've come.

Over the past few weeks, they've done far more than learn a few new behaviours.

They've learned to look at training differently.

The behaviours we worked on were never really the goal. They were simply the vehicle used to teach bigger concepts: timing, communication, reinforcement, observation, emotional regulation, and understanding how dogs learn.

Watching owners start to see behaviour through a different lens has been one of the most rewarding parts of this course. Not because the dogs learned new skills, but because the relationship between dog and handler grew stronger along the way.

Well done to all of these teams. Hannah & Nick with Lucy, Ricardo with Maxx, and of course Meekha with Koa (even though I don't have a photo of them together to share!), it has been a privilege watching your journeys over the past few weeks. ❤️🐾

Train. Understand. Connect.

A very big welcome to all the new puppies and their humans who started their Level 1 Foundational Training journey with us this past Saturday 🐾

We are incredibly excited to watch these little personalities grow, learn, gain confidence, and slowly start figuring out this very confusing human world!

Thank you for trusting Dogz360 to be part of your pups’ journey. We are looking forward to many weeks of learning, laughter, chaos, zoomies, and proud moments ahead ❤️

Recall practice this weekend 🐾

One of the most important things we work on in class is teaching dogs that coming back to their owners is always worth it.

Not because they “have to”…
but because their humans are the best part of the environment ❤️

These action shots perfectly capture the energy, excitement, and connection we want to build during recalls.

A reliable recall is more than just a trick:
• It builds safety
• It builds trust
• It creates freedom

And honestly… there’s just something very special about a dog running full speed back to their person 🐾

By the time your dog is physically trying to silence you… It’s usually a good sign that things may have escalated slightly!

Jokes aside, many behaviour struggles don’t suddenly appear overnight.
They usually start as small things that seem funny, harmless, or easy to brush off:
“He’s just excited.”
“She’s just a bit dramatic.”
“He only does it sometimes.”

The important thing to remember is that dogs learn through repetition. Research in animal learning shows that every time a behaviour is repeated, the neural pathways linked to that behaviour become stronger and more automatic over time.

Basically:
The more they practise something… the better they get at it.

Which also means the longer behaviours are left unaddressed, the bigger and more ingrained they can become over time.

That’s why early guidance and intervention can make SUCH a difference. Often, small issues can be “nipped in the bud” long before they become major behavioural struggles.

And help does not always mean serious behaviour rehab. Sometimes it simply means:
▪️joining a reputable puppy or dog training school
▪️ building better foundations early
▪️ speaking to a trainer or behaviourist
▪️learning more about how dogs think and cope with the world around them

You do not need to wait until:
🔘 Your dog is dragging you down the road
🔘 barking at every moving object
🔘 body-slamming visitors at the front door
🔘 developing anxiety or reactivity
🔘 or physically trying to silence you, like in this photo

before reaching out for support!!!

Puppy socialisation is one of the most misunderstood parts of raising a dog.

Many people believe socialisation means:
“Let your puppy meet every dog, every person, everywhere.”

But behavioural research has shown that socialisation is not simply about the amount of exposure a puppy gets… it’s about the quality of those experiences.

A puppy that feels overwhelmed, frightened, or overstimulated during “socialisation” can actually develop long-term negative emotional associations with dogs, people, environments, or handling.

The early socialisation period (roughly between 3 and 16 weeks) is a critical developmental stage where puppies learn what is safe, normal, and worth worrying about !

Good socialisation helps puppies learn:
✔ The world is safe
✔ New things predict good outcomes
✔ Calmness is rewarding
✔ They do not need to greet everything
✔ They can observe without reacting

Poorly managed socialisation can unintentionally contribute to:
• Fearfulness
• Overarousal
• Frustration
• Reactivity
• Difficulty coping in busy environments

Sometimes “too much” too soon creates the exact opposite of confidence.

Real socialisation is:
Calm exposure
*️⃣Confidence building
*️⃣ Positive experiences
*️⃣ Choice and safety
*️⃣ Quality over quantity

A calm, thoughtful puppy today often becomes a far more balanced adult dog tomorrow ❤️
