🩺 Role Overview
As an AWA Nurse, you will support our veterinary team in delivering outstanding care to exotic animals. You will work hands-on in triage, treatment, and day-to-day animal care, ensuring the highest standards of welfare and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily animal care, feeding, and medical treatments

Monitor the health and behavior of animals under care

Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation

Support veterinary procedures and post-operative care

Educate the public and foster homes on exotic pet care when needed

🎓 Requirements:
AWA qualification with registered SAVC Number.

Experience in veterinary nursing, ideally with exotics or wildlife

Strong observational and communication skills

Compassionate, resilient, and team-oriented

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends

Goodbye my friend 💔

You have been in my life since I was a little girl, loved me like I was your own daughter.

You were always quick to help me with anything. Hug and tell me you love me everytime you saw me.

You had a smile on your face all the time, despite the hardships life gave you. You put things in perspective for me, with so little and working long hours you still managed to smile and be greatful.

My heart is so sore. I will love and miss you forever Merci 💕

So today was my s**tty wake up call from dotsure.co.za Pet Insurance

What is not disclosed is that if your exotic pet develops a chronic conditon you are 𝐍𝐎𝐓 covered more than R10 000. No matter how long you have been on it.

So you can pay for years and if you get a pasturealla infection, like my Twinks has got and another infection starts two months later, you are STUFFED. - for a chest infection!!!!!

Imagine if our human medical aid told us to p**s off if we got repeated chest infections.
Well thats what dotsure has decided on twinks relapse of a chest infection.

Please note dotsure only covers a chronic illnesses that develop whilst on cover up to R10 800 per claim , this means that if the chronic condition flares up or comes back a month or two later, you are 𝐍𝐎𝐓 covered, nor do they cover pre existing conditions.

The NEVER ENDING cycle of s**t bunny owners!

Wht are bunnies discarded like nothing every single time?

𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 ‘𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀’

I was recently contacted by a person who adopted a bunny from me 6 years ago. They had just adopted 2 kittens and a puppy (all 3 at once), the bunny (adopted from me), was being aggressive towards the new pets. I was told the puppy just wants to play and the bunny is being so vicious and attacking the new pets. Do I have any advice. While this was all unfolding I was trying to catch an injured bunny at Linden police station. I couldn’t respond in detail at the time, but did ask why would they bring 3 animals (especially at once), into the bunnies’ home, which to them are predators. Within half an hour I received another message asking that the bunnies be rehomed because he injured one of the kittens.

Well we all know people are breaking down my door lining up to adopt bunnies, but I couldn’t just leave my bunny to end up who knows where and said they must bring them to me. (My adoption policy in any event states that my bunnies come back to me when people no longer want them. I don’t rescue them to just forget about them). The bunnies had to be caught first, but there was no time wasted, the next morning he was already on his way to me.

Have you ever lost everything. Everything that is familiar to you, your life, your home, your place of safety? Taken away in the blink of an eye. Imagine for a minute what that must be like. This is exactly what happened to these 2 bunnies. Why did they have to get tossed out. Why were the other pets not returned instead. Why not go to a little more trouble to introduce them all. It is always the bunnies who suffer in the end.

To make matters even harder, the poor male bunny has a disease in his eyes with one eye almost completely blinded already by this condition. I have had him at 2 different vets and the next option is going to have to be the Joburg eye hospital. This is not going to be cheap, but how do I home a bunny with a medical condition and how do I not help him if there is help. These two urgently need a new free roaming garden, they are so depressed. But who will adopt a ‘sick’ bunny. He more than likely acted the way he did due to his eye issue. It often causes them to get aggressive when they have some kind of illness.

If you are at all able to contribute to his vet bills so i can try and help this poor bunny regain his sight it will be extremely appreciated. Last time I visited the eye hospital the consult alone was R1500 ($83) 😔

I just love this little guy so much. He is just so loving and offers so many kisses.

I have named him Tigger (Tigz 🐅) as he is full of Binkies.

He is off to today, in the hopes he finds a loving home.

4) Have him sterilised at 16 weeks of age at and exotic vet.
