Yesterday was a long day but what an awesome day it was. We had Dāv Kaufman and Clint from Clint's Reptiles around for a meet and greet. Then myself and good friends did a photo shoot with a new friend also from the USA.

I was spinning for 19 hours but what an awesome day with good people and loads of amazing animals.

These are the only pictures I took with my phone the whole time. This shoot started at sundown and went well into the evening. We had some amazing heavy hitters we were working with. In picture is a Cape Coral Snake (Aspidelaps lubricus)

For those interested in the Albino Gaboon Vipers and the full story. My friend Bryce put together this video and short documentary on it. He did all the filming, lighting and editing himself and I must say what a good job. Give him a follow for more educational content.

This is one of the craziest stories of how Bjorn from Reptile Garden made a joke about being the first one to breed albino gaboon vipers and then to his surp...

Ultra one of our Albino Reticulated Pythons (Malayopython reticulatus), laying just like a Green Tree Python on this tree trunk we suspended at an expo.

We don't allow people to often hold our large constrictors unless it is like 7 people or more at one time. The reason being is they can hurt and even break ribs if handled incorrectly. With a lot of mass, you want to spread out the weight as best you can.

This option allows the snake to lay comfortably and people to still get close and have the opportunity for pictures, etc.

Ultra is a twin as we hatched 2 from one egg. Her sister's Mel, so we got Ultramel like the custard.

This is Reaper my Black-Headed Bushmaster (Lachesis melanocephala).

I love how the top of his head almost disappears when in the dark. These snake are super secretive and spend much time in underground hollows and logs etc. They are extremely hard to find in their natural range in Coasta Rica and Panama.

Bushmasters are the longest Vipers in the world, although this species it nit the longest they still get around 2 meters. The Southern American Bushmaster (Lachesis muta) can grow to 3m with the record of apparently 3,6m. That is insane!

Bites from this species are extremely serious, and even with antivenom, 80% of people die. Now remember that venoms primary use is to secure prey, not bite people.

Feeding the new baby Gaboons. Some are getting the hang of it while others are a bit slow to start. They all eat well, though, which is great.

I have been working on making my enclosures better and bigger, etc. I still have a long way to go, and it is a costly exercise. I recently pimped out Strikers crib, and he is loving his new cork hide.

It is so rewarding to make things look nice and enrich the environment for these guys, even though Striker is happy to sit and wait for a meal.

Anyway, here is a little photo shoot of Stiker the West African Gaboon Viper (Bitis rhinoceros).
