🆘We need help for the ‘Search & Rescue’ mission for Skunk 🆘

On Thursday 17th of June Skunk went missing on a family walk on the mountain in CT. Skunk is a male Boston terrier also suffering from epilepsy.

There has been no sightings since Thursday and everyone is desperate to find him. Boston Rescue are mobilising the search teams from Healthy Hound to start searching from Thursday morning in CT. A team of 2 handlers and 3 highly skilled and trained search dogs will leave Jhb on Wednesday morning to be on the ground Thursday morning.

We have not given up hope and we will do everything in our power to help find Skunk. Zizou is among this team and we know there is no better search dog than her.

We need your help please 🙏🏻 The logistics and travel costs are big and we would appreciate any donation towards the search. We estimate the total amounts to come in at R25 000 for this search operation. We at least need to cover travel and some accommodation cost tomorrow. No donation is too small and we will appreciate any amount. Together we can do this!

WHAT IF YOUR DOG COULD LIVE TO BE 27!? ❤️🐾

Sadly, only one out of a thousand dogs lives up to 21-25 years. The vast majority of dogs die younger from various diseases, many of which are outcomes of lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise. So when we set out to write The Forever Dog book, we wanted to know, “what do these long-lived dogs have in common?” 🐶🤔

One of the dogs we came across was Buksi, a 27-year old mixed-breed in Hungary!! Dr. Eniko Kubinyi, the head researcher of the Methuselah dog study, told us Buksi lived on a horse riding farm🐎 and led a “free life”, able to make choices based on preferences and wasn’t constantly restrained in his movement. Like many other long-lived dogs we came across, he consumed raw unprocessed foods, spent a great deal of time outdoors, and also had a rich social life - having daily contact with new people👧🏻👨🏼‍🦳👩🏼, horses🐴, as well as other dogs🐕.
